Help!!
Headlight switch mod: on 2000 Expedition EB
I was wondering if anyone had any problems w/this mod?
I tried it today with out making the electrical mod. The only thing I did was notch the collar at the parking light position. After assembling the switch I plugged everything back in to do a test of the lights. Now I do not have any inst. lights or parking lights.
I do have headlights and fogs along with interior lights.
I have cecked the fuses and all are ok.
I have also dissassembaled and rechecked the switch.
Today I bought a new switch and still have the same problems
ANYONE PLEASE HELP, my baby is injured
Thanks

Try this:
I know it's a little corny but make sure the thumbwheel on the rheostat (for brighter/dimmer instrument illumination) .
If that is OK then check fuse number 18 (5 amp fuse).
If it appears to be good, wiggle it to ensure it is getting proper connection to the blades of the fuse. (Have seen this due to multiple wire taps for cell phones, etc.)
If that is no good then grab a test light and follow:
Check the Dark Blue with the White stripe wire for voltage.
If you have voltage there, proceed to check the Light Blue wire with a red stripe. If you got voltage there, then check the black wire to ensure a good ground. If that is good, then you probably have a broken wire behind your cluster.
If you need more help, let me know.
