Eletrical probelm?

Ok first my windsheild wipers would go off radomly every 3 trips. But then it stopped and my airbag light went on. Two weeks l8ter my horn won't work with air bag light still on. I went to auto zone and they refuse to clear the air bag code. I have a 97 xl 4.6l supercab 2wd

Cool

Flankhim -

Sounds like you may have the dreaded windshield-leaking-into-your-electrical-panel problem.

If you do a search in the Electrical Forum you will find several threads regarding this.

Good luck and let us know what you find...

The reason they refuse to clear the airbag code is because the code cannot be cleared until the airbag diagnostic monitor doesn't see a problem. In other words, you can't clear an airbag code. You can try but they immediately pop back on.
As far as I can tell from your description of the horn inop and the airbag light on, I would suspect the clockspring located behind the steering column. And I would also agree that the possibility of water leaking into the GEM module on your wipers and horn, but I think that was merely coincidence.
Ford's multi-function switch leaves alot to be desired.

I suspect that is your problem with the random wiper strokes

My $0.02 worth...

Good luck finding your problem!
