I have the same thing happening to my '99. Did you ever figure out what the problem is?

I am was having the same problems, just recently it has evolved. My truck will now stall as if it is out of gas, and will not restart. Sometimes it does start and run shortly, but then dies again. I am told it is a Bad Gem box. Supposeably the alarm module is defective and is shutting down the motor.
I also have a Check engine light that has been on for a while.
Any suggestions besides going to the jerks at the Ford Dealership ?

Since you think I'm a "jerk", I see no reason to help you.

Try a search and I am sure you will find the thread regarding thie problem.. I seem to recall it was complete with pictures. Home skillet, I would never consider anyone with the skills and knowledge it takes to work on a modern computer controlled vehicle a "jerk" or anything else. It is a shame that people insist on lumping the good and the bad all together. A doctor works on the same make and model all of the time with no model year changes for engineering and the like. Mechanics have to learn many different models and about the time it gets to be second nature they change the engineering and it starts all over agian.
