Remote for neon?
Remote for neon?
I've got a gold class street glow neon kit on my truck, and got the switch wired up under the dashboard out of sight but just in reach.
the other night i was giving a few friends a ride home, and i thought it would be pretty cool if there was someway i could hook the neon up to a remote like for my keychain, that way from a distance i can turn the neon on and see it before i get in the truck
is there any way to do this? any kits availible?
i don't really want to hook it up to the same system as the factory interior lights that turn on when i click the unlock button on the keyfob, because i don't always want to bring the extra attention to the truck, just for certain occasions.
Thanks for any info!-

There are several ways you could do this. Probably the easiest is to get one of the fog light remote control kits at your local auto parts store. The kit comes with a brain, keyfob, relay, and wiring.
Another option, the one I would probably choose, is to get a code-hopping remote system from www.smarthome.com (or somewhere else if you can find it). The one I used to have was made by DEI and had 6 outputs that could be controlled from the remote. Just add a relay to each output and control anything you want. It was programmable on each channel for momentary, latched, delayed, and a few other settings I can't remember.
You could also buy a cheap alarm and use the brain and remote to accomplish the same thing.
Here's the remote I had: http://www.smarthome.com/7446.html
Here's a cheaper one, but the outputs are only momentary:http://www.smarthome.com/7440.html You'd have to figure out a way to make this one latch.
