Pulling Codes

Could someone post step by step how to pull error codes using a volt meter? The method in my chiltons isnt very clear. This is for a 92 f150 with 5.8 liter

all you need to do with ones that have ck eng lamps (88 and up EEC 4) is ground the single self test connector, turn key on and count flash out code. volt meter is not needed.
