something screwy....

After driving with cruise control on for about 30 minutes my truck has had the habbit of flashing the overdrive light at me. It doesn't downshift or anything, but that kind of worries me. Now I do know other people with 150's that do this, so I know I'm not alone. I also explained this to a mechanic he said that it basically sounded like I wasn't goign into overdrive, I was in drive, but didnt' bump into overdrive which really meant I just wasn't going to get as good of gas milage. Anyone else having this problem? What did you do to fix it? How much did it cost?

When your overdrive light starts to blink it is similar to a "check engine light" for the transmission. Something wrong is being sensed and throwing a code. You'll need to get this code pulled from the computer and then if you're still confused try the Transmission forum.

Obviously your mechanic is not familiar with Ford transmissions if he told you this. Try a Ford dealer to get the code retrieved from the computer.

Oh, and check your ATF level just for the heck of it.

The light is triggered by temp or pressure. If the fluid is low it will cause it to flash also. check the fluid first thing .
