for the first 2, put a O2 on the passenger side, and if its a 97 or 98 5.4, get the drain tube extended from dripping in the O2. A slow response code is almost always a bad O2.

the last 2 codes prob didnt turn the light on, clear them and see if they ever come back.

I'll put in another thread the DTC code and suggested problem diagnoses.

It seems that the VSS is having problems ( P0503 & P1500 ) completing the remaining tests on the system.

A look to the common points of P0503 and P1500 should be the first place to start, as the O2 / MAFS related codes seem to be in the area of contention from the problems with the VSS.

What is the last work that was done on the truck ?
A Air Filter change, or FIPK install ?
A True dual xhst, or high flow cats ?

The only reason I am asking is, some of the codes point towards Xhst leaks near the O2 sensor, or intake air leaks / dirty MAFS.

While this does not preclude a problem matic O2 sensor, O2 related DTCs can be other things.

Or maybe the VSS just took a powder, and it needs to be fixed first, and reset the PCM then see what happens after the inital adaptive learning process drive is completed.
On a 4WABS equiped truck, there is one for each front wheel, and one for the rear axle.

At least one other post to follow :

Steve

- DTC
p0133 oxygen sensor slow response sensor 1 bank 1
- Possible Causes
Contaminated HO2S sensor
Exhaust leaks.
Shorted /open wiring.
Improper fueling.
MAF sensor.
Deteriorating HO2S sensor.
Inlet air leaks.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
p1131 lack of ho2s11 switch sensor indicates lean
( same Possible Causes as P1130 )
- Possible Causes of P1130
Short to VPWR in harness or HO2S
Water in harness connector
Open/Shorted HO2S circuit
Corrosion or poor mating terminals and wiring
Damaged HO2S
Damaged PCM
Excessive fuel pressure
Leaking /contaminated fuel injectors
Leaking fuel pressure regulator
Low fuel pressure or running out of fuel
Vapor recovery system
Air leaks after the MAF
Vacuum Leaks
PCV system
Improperly seated engine oil dipstick
Leaking EGR gasket
Stuck EGR valve
Leaking diaphragm or EVR
Oil overfill
Cam timing
Cylinder compression
Exhaust leaks before or near the HO2S(s)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
p1000 monitor checks not complete need more driving
I have read this is a common code for just after resetting the computer. Mike Troyer had a post on this. It just means that the PCM was cleared. It should go away after ~ 200 miles.
Else I don't get this if I disconnect the neg, turn the head lamps on, and then after 5 min, turn the head lamps off, reconnect the battery, let idle for 15 min, then drive it for another 15 to 30 min varrying on and off highway with some stops and run ups at WOT into 3rd gear.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
p1500 vehicle speed sensor
- Description
Indicates the VSS input signal was intermittent. This DTC is set when a VSS fault interferes with other OBDII tests, such as Catalyst efficiency monitor, EVAP monitor, HO2S monitor, etc.
- Possible Causes
Intermittent VSS connections
Intermittent open in VSS harness circuit(s)
Intermittent short in VSS harness circuit(s)
Damaged VSS
Damaged PCM
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
p0503 vehicle speed sensor noisy
- Description
Indicates poor or noisy VSS performance. Vehicle speed data is received from either the vehicle speed sensor (VSS), transfer case speed sensor (TCSS), anti-lock brake system (ABS) control module, generic electronic module (GEM), or central timer module (CTM).
- Possible Causes
Noisy VSS/TCSS input signal from Radio Frequency Interference/ Electro-Magnetic Interference (RFI /EMI) external sources such as ignition components or charging circuit
Damaged VSS or driven gears.
Damaged TCSS.
Damaged wiring harness or connectors.
Malfunction in module(s) or circuit connected to VSS/TCSS circuit.
After market add-on.

Fordman16,

What truck do you have? Model, year, 4x2 4.6 etc...

JMC

In order for the codes to be cleared the VSS problems have to be cleared up. Dependin on the year and or configuration of the vehicle it has a VSS in either the tranny or the T-case or it uses the ABS sensor in the rear diff. Check the wiring going to the VSS. As sscully mentionned it could be the sensor itself.
