Question Remote Entry Inop

Hello All,

Well I have ran into another problem with my 97 F150..and I hope someone will be able or willing to help.

Ok here is the deal. I shipped my truck from Guam to CA. The Remotes worked fine then. I picked up the truck about 45 days later after it got to CA... Remote worked ok.. had to stand alot closer than before but it still worked. About a month ago it quit working all together.. so I put 2 cents together and figured the remote batteries were dead. I have 2 remotes and both of them do not work. So I put new batteries in both remotes and it worked for about a week and then I left it sit for 2 weeks while I was in Texas. I came back and its dead again.

I checked fuse #8 and it is not blown. it also has the radio and something else going through that curcuit. I looked at the module under the dash right above the emergency brake and it looks to be ok. So anyone have any Ideas? I have installed a new head unit... Clarion.. But it was pretty much the same wiring as the Pioneer I had in there...

Does the remote entry system run through the curcuitry in the Radio? I seen a wire that I didn't hook up that was a remote wire I believe. But that goes to the amp... I dunno... All I know is the remote entry is dead in the water.. along with both of my Power mirrors are dead too? Any Ideas Please let me know

Thanks in Advance

Scott

Spieldawg,

I am using a 2001 EVTM for this, so it should be the same, but there could be some differences, so bear with me.

The Fuse #8 is for the GEM, radio, RAP, and isntrument cluster, so if that was blown a lot would be wrong with the truck.

The power mirrors are fuse # 4 central junction box, check that fuse for that problem. 5 amp fuse in the position.

If that is alright, the only common point of the entry module and teh power windows, is the ground connection G200. This is the same for the Power mirrors and for the key fob remote ( central security module / RAP ).

This is a ground lug with an Eye on it.

It should be behind the parking brake in the driver side kick panel.

There are 2 large looms back behind the central junction box ( fuse box under the dash ), one is the plastic D handle through the firewall, the other with 3 connectors and 3 ground eye lugs on it.

The ground lug cloest to the Central junction box is G200, it is out of the wire loom wrap before the other 2, and the 3 connectors.

Make sure it does not have any toe jam around it, and it is screwed down tight.

Do you know the color of the wire that is not hooked up ?
If you can get the color fo the wire and stripe, I should be able to tell you what it is for, if you care.

Take a look over these, and let me know what you come up with.

Good hunting

Steve
