auxilary lights
Have 2000 Supercab XLT 2 wheel-drive, Light switch is type for aux lights but truck did not come with aux lights. How can I use this switch when installing aftermarket aux driving lights
Aux lights as in driving lights ?
If you look under the bumper, you will see the 2 conectors under there pined up with plastic push pins, one on each side.
These are the factory connections to the driving lights on each side.
Next is if the head lamp switch is the type for the driving lights, I would wonder why this is in there, without the driving lights, but you would need to verify the fuse location for the driving lamps, and the relay I do believe.
Check the owners manual for the locations on your year truck, or download one from www.fleet.ford.com.
The XTL come with the full harness, where the XL does not, so the wiring should be in there, it is just a matter of finding it all, and hooking it together.

Yes driving lights.
I not sure why the switch is in the, the truck does not have lights and the front valance under the bumper does not have locations for them.
Thanks for the info.

atharp,
Sorry my mistake, it sunk in some how
I have never read of someone adding the driving light switch type head ligth switch to the truck then adding everything else as of yet.
Later on tonight I have something else I need to look up, I'll take a look through the wiring diagram and make sure before you buy the switch, and start from there.

It took some work, but I used my aux. light switch on my xl, for my back-up lights. Whenever I am backing up, I need more light, so I figured my lights are already on, so wired it to a 55 watt back-up light mounted on the hitch. Your right, xl's don't have the wiring harness, but the stock switch is there. I was going to use it for forward lights, but didn't like the way the switch worked only with the headlights on....
