Lights in radio display blinking???

I have a 2002 F150 Supercrew 4X4 with approx. 3300 miles. I thought I noticed the other evening that the display lights in the radio/ tape deck/ cd player were sporadically dimming then coming back up to normal intensity. It happens pretty quick so It's one of those things you question if it really happened or not. Last night while sitting in traffic watching all the idiots with bald tires trying to get around in the snow/ice mess we had, it was clear that the blinking was occurring and that it was happening very often. This seems to happen at idle as well as normal driving. I have noticed in the past that the fan motor speed for the heat and AC seems to be inconsistant at times as well, but I wrote it off as being part of the Automatic Temperature Control.

Has anyone experienced anything like this before and if so what was the problem. By the way, the volt meter in the instrument cluster appears to read pretty stable, however i'm not sure how much you can trust it anyway.

Thanks in advance for your input.

PS. I will be posting this same question in the supercrew title as well
