Yes. You have to run the wires to it though.

You can buy just the outer clam shell and install it to your existing mirrors.

I bought the arrow kind off of ebay for $25 bucks that stick on and they look great, you can also see them better than the factory side ones. Easy to install. Good luck!

If youa re talkiing about the "old" style these are the muth Mirrors ( muthco.com ). You can pull down the directions off the web site to check out how the install would look like. It is not bad at all.
As for the new ones, the harness I would have guessed it to be on the glamor cap, with enough lead to make it to the wiring harness in the door. And to have the wiring harness in the door you need the XLT, XLs don't get the complete wiring harness from reports of XL owners.

Home skillet,
Did you do this ?
I was under either the understanding or misunderstanding ( which ever the case is ) that the glamor cap on the signal mirror uses a different mirrror head then the ones off say an XLT. I could be wrong in what I took away from a conversation with Gary Starr at Fordpartsonline, so I wanted to find out if you confirmed the glamor cap swap out on standard XLT mirrors. I just wanted to find out if I mis-understood Gary last year.
Thanks.

As for will the glamor cap fit a 98....got me I don't know if the mirror heads are the same or not.

SSCULLY.
I've never done it, but I have eye-balled it close enought to know it can work. The mirrors have to be the same basic design. I think the '98s were different, on those you will have to use the turn signal in the mirror lens.

You have eye-balled it wrong. The mirror cap will fit, but the light attached to it uses a proprietary harness to plug into the bulb socket. This harness is only available as part of the signal mirror head. Without that harness, you would have to ghetto rig a bare wire to attach to a small pin inside the plug of the light on the mirror cap.

I HAVE done this mod, not merely eyeballed it, and - trust me - if I could have saved $250 on new mirror heads and just done caps, I would have! Whole project cost over $340 in parts, plus paint for the caps.

pw1981,

Thanks for correcting me. I knew Gary told me something about it would not work with the XLT mirror head, I thought it was due to the fit, but thanks for the catch, it was the pulg inside the head that was the problem.

When I replaced my chrome glamor caps with the painted style, I asked him about this, and he told me whole new mirror head time Ouch.
I passed on it, as I was ordering my L grille and the Nav visors at that time. With the 2 new mirror heads and the other parts on the list in addition to the 2 above, it would have been over $1,000.00 I would have spent that day PASS
