Speakers

I bought a 98 F-150 last year and was looking to put some new speakers in it. According to the Crutchfield site it has 6x8 speakers in it. I had some 3 way 6x9's I was thinking of using, but why the odd 6x8 size? Anyone have any ideas what size speakers to use? 6x8 is not a common size.

6x8 is a very common size. Every Ford/Lincoln/Mercury/Mazda made in the better part of the last decade uses them.

A standard 5x7 Speaker will also fit in the factory holes if you cannot find a 6x8 to your liking.

Cool

pw1981 is right - you need 6x8 or 5x7 speakers if you don't want to do any mods to the doors.

6x9's will fit with a little cutting. You have to be careful which types you buy, because of the magnet depth and power window tracks clearance.

To further muddy up the mix, you can install 5 1/4"s or 6 1/2"s with nothing more than some backing material and drilling a few small mounting holes...

Might be worth a few minutes to look around in the member's photo area to see if anything strikes your fancy.

Good luck !
