Question airbag light

I had an XM radio reciever installed on saturday, when it was done I started it up and my airbag light blinks giving me fault code 23. Does anyone know what this code means? Vehicle is a 2001 4.6L 4X4.

I have a guess. When the installers had the dash apart they probably crimped the black/yellow wire from the airbag diagnostic monitor, or the white/yellow power from fuse 19. The right answer is to have the stereo guy fix it, but you'll probably have to go to Ford, have them fix it, and give the bill to the stereo guy.

Thanks, the truck is at the dealership now and I had the stereo people check and see if they did anything to make it happen. As they were looking over their work I watched to make sure they weren't hacking anything apart. When they spliced into power for the reciever, they cut into the power that the head unit runs off of and nothing more. The wires run straight down through the dash to the kickpanel area. They did have the seat out, twice, and I made sure that they did not crimp or cut the seatbelt wire. interestingly, the light that tells you when the pass. bag is off no longer illuminates. I guess we will see what ford finds out.

thanks for the info.

I've read in other posts (do a search for airbag light, or airbag code) that pulling the seats often results in a crimp in the harness.

What did the stereo guy say about the "unengineered enhancement" to your truck? Will he pay?

He said that if Ford found that the problem was caused by the XM install they will foot the bill for all charges and if it was not caused by the install it is under warranty and will get fixed, so i come out on top both ways (I hope).

Ford found it was a bad PAD switch. All is fixed and XM is the best.
