Which Fuse is Which?
The following post is one that I have been meaning to put together for some time in response to the number of questions from folks who don't have an owner's manual. These postions and uses are from the 98 manual.
The passenger compartment panel is on the left below the steering wheel. It contains 31 fuses in 3 rows numbered going down (col 1, 1-11 etc), and 5 relay postions 1-5.
Fuse 1 15Amp rating Flashers
2 5A Instrument Cluster
3 25A Cigar lighter
4 5A Park lamp relay, headlamp relay,autolamp relay,RAP,power mirrors (All low side power for listed relays)
5 15A DTR sensor,Backup lamp switch,speed control servo,Heat A/C control,blend doors, DRL
6 5A Shift lock actuator,GEM,rear air suspension
7 XX Not Used
8 5A Radio,Main light switch,RAP
module
9 XX Not Used
10 XX Not Used
11 30A Washer pump relay,Wipers (Hi/Lo, Run/Park,Motor)
12 5A Data link connector
13 15A Rear ABS,Brake On/Off switch,Brake pressure switch
14 15A Batter saver relay,Interior lamp relay
15 5A GEM
16 20A Daytime running lamps,Instrument cluster,Hi-beams(Power through multifuntion switch)
17 XX Not Used
18 5A Park lamp relay,Brake controller, Exterior lighting(power through multifunction switch)
19 10A Instrument cluster,Air bag diagnostic module
20 5A PCM,GEM,Central timer
21 15A Clutch pedal postion switch,Starter interrupt relay
22 10A Airbag diagnostic monitor,Passive deactivation module
23 10A Tailer tow battery charge,4X4 hub solenoid,4X2 hub solenoid, flasher relay, shift on the fly relay
24 10A Blower relay
25 5A 4 wheel ABS module, 4 wheel ABS relay
26 10A DRL module,Right headlight
27 5A Main light switch,fog lamp relay
28 10A Left headlamp
29 5A Autolamp, instrument cluster,Trans control switch,Brake warning resistor and diode assembly
30 30A Radio noise capacitor,Ignition coil,PCM power diode
31 XX Not Used
The Relays are (from the top down)
1 Interior lamp relay
2 Battery saver relay
3 Not Used
4 One Touch Down Relay
5 ACC Delay Relay
The engine compartment power distribution box will have to wait for a different post.
