There is a difference between dealers.

I lost one of the plastic stake caps to my 1999 F150. I called my local dealer {Puente Hills Ford in Puente Hills, Calif} to ask if they had that part available. I was told that i would have to buy the whole bed rail cap {$90.00}. I went to another dealer a few miles away,Clippinger Ford in West Covina. I asked the same thing. They do sell the part seperately for about $9.00. Maybe i just talked to a mis-informed parts guy at Puente Hills, but i guess it pays to check around.I would think that the parts guys would check on their computers for an avail.

You should always expect to find an idiot at a Ford parts counter, that way when you find a decent person it makes your day. I dropped by my dealer a while back for some regular Mercon ATF and they debated that any truck left on the road would still use it (4R100). I asked them what they stocked for their mechanics to use in power steering units and they told me..."Every vehicle serviced here gets Type F."
