Not Happy With My Dealer

Shawnee Mission Ford
Shawnee Kansas (Kansas City Metro)
Called the dealer for an appointment to check the front end, it pulled to the left and also vibrated at 80mph. Told the service rep that there was no hurry, make me an appointment when it would fit in to their schedule. The appointment was made for 6 days later. When my wife arrived with the truck they told her it would be 2 days before they could get to it. She reminded them that we had made an appointment the week before and arranged our schedules to be without the truck that day. They had the appointment but still wouldn't take the truck, by this time my wife is mad(felt sorry for the service rep) so she called me at work(cars are the mans thing).
I talked to the service manager and was firmly told there was nothing that could be done. Called my sales rep and reminded him why we came to his dealership(he promised that service would be excellent)and if we had just walked in we would expect to wait in turn but not when an appointment had been made 6 days prior and I expeced him to take care of the problem(he did not)even though he said he would. The truck stayed overnight and was done by noon the next day. While picking up the truck I visited with the manager and asked that we be notified the night before when an scheduled appointment could not be met and was told that was not possible. During the whole process no voices were raised(except for my wife's) and all discussions were handled in a polite and business like manner.... My Windstar is due to be traded next year and I hope this site will have some good postings about dealers in the Kansas City Metro area to help with our decision on where to purchase a new one.

That would be great and appreciated.
I could start taking my F150 there, that is if I ever have another problem with the truck.

I took my truck to the dealership at 9:30AM Saturday for:

1. Problem: Windshield's wipers only worked on Hi speed.
Result: Replaced wiper motor-windshield.
No charge.
2. Problem: Creaking noise heard from front of vehicle on slow speed turns.
Result: Road test with tech, tech verified that was pressure noise from power
steering. That is normal?.
3. The truck was almost 1000 miles so I gave it a first service and no charge (The customer service manager compensated it for the creaking noise from driver side-extended cab's door that could not be fixed even the Ford engineer.).

Anyway, the truck came in at 9:30AM and came out at 11:30am approximately.
By the way, the dealership is Five Star Ford at North Richland Hills,TX.

Keystone Ford, Santa Fe Springs, CA. The most honest salesman I've ever met, but the worst service department on the planet. The stock answer to everything is: "couldn't duplicate the problem." My first clue was at my truck's first service: they left the oil filter loose, and left grease stains on the leather seats.

I always remember a vendor that ran a large heating/airconditioning service told me how he used Ford vans & drove a supercoupe, as his personal wheeels.....

It seems his Camaro was showing some of the usual paint flaws that were found in the mid eighties...so, he returned it to the dealer, complaining, as this car was around two years old. The service manager agreed that the paint was flawed, and the warranty would cover it, however, the front of the car was "stone chipped"..and that wasn't covered...
My buddy said, "So, you're tellin me you painted the front half of this car correctly, and only the back half is flawed???"

The service guy dug in his heels, and wouldn't budge... so, the guy asked to borrow his phone, and promptly ordred a new thunderbird, & an E350 van...

well, that's how it goes.. how REALLLY true it all is, I dunno, but says it is...*L*

Cowles Ford, Woodbridge, VA Service Dept just lost all credibility with me. After noticing an uneven ride height on the driver side rear (99 F150 5.4 SC XLT 4X4 ORP Owned 2.5 weeks), I made an oppointment. The appointment was made 5 days out. I dropped off the truck and reported the bed was misaligned and they need to check the ride height. At the end of the day when I went to pickup my truck I was told the bumper was 1 inch low and they adjusted it. In fact, this was total lie. I took measurements before and after and they were exactly the same. The Shop Foreman and the Service Manager with a straight face insisted on the repair that wasn't made. I reported this to the General Manager. The General Manager of course was not going to have his Service Manager admit they had lied. I over heard the Service Manager in the back ground while on phone with the General Manager, that he used a "broom stick" to measure my truck. This is total disrespect for the customer. The General Manager did offer to bring the truck back so they can work on it some more. I will not have this dealer touch my truck, even with a 10 foot pole. I plan on making a formal complaint to Ford.

dad plans on buying a new car for mom, so i went looking at cars today in Stillwater, Ok.
first stop was at the Dodge dealer to look at the Sebring JXI. the guy was very nice, helpful, pleasant to talk to and i liked the car very much. next was the Ford dealer to look at the mustangs. saw a special edition that i really liked. the guy was not openly friendly and basically took my inquiry on the car not seriously. next was the Pontiac dealer to look at the Firebird. the guy was friendly but didn't try to sell me the car, just let me look at it. i like the new firebirds but i don't anymore since the guy told me that my truck has no trade in value on the firebird b/c it was a "Ford". The Pontiac guy was quick to trash the Sebring, then proceeded to insult my truck. The Ford guy gave me a pro & con on the Sebring. The Sebring guy only talked about his car even when i told him i was shocked by dad's Chrysler choice & that i really wanted her to get a Mustang, and he happily answered my questions and allowed me to inspect the car inside and out. he acted like the perfect car salesman and he was the only one who asked what my name was.
If all salesmen acted like this guy (especially when people are just looking) then a lot more cars would get sold. A good attitude and personality is what gets the cars off the lot. I now will fully support the purchase of the Chrysler; the price, appearance, comfort and space makes it the best buy.

A couple of great dealers in Fort Worth TX are Five Star Ford in NRH. and Nichols Ford in FTW. I bought my wifes new Expedition from Nichols and the sales staff was eager to make me a very good deal. I just bought a new F-150 from Five Star and the salesman(A.J.Jones) worked with me untill I was happy with the deal. Both were great experiences.
As for the service department:
Nichols Ford was very helpfull at the first service and even did some minor non warranty work at no charge.
Five star ford: I have not had to take the new F-150 in yet(Only had it for 3 days now) BUT,I took my 95 F-150 in there for oil change and ABS diagnostic and the service writer looked and acted like he would rather be pulling hairs from his ears than help me out. And when I asked him if I was disturbing him he walked away from the desk. So I walked 3 desk down and talked to another service writer and he started to write me up on his service pad, and started to take my key from me to attach it to the work order and the first jerk walks back in and ask what I am doing? Needless to say I did not even look at him. Hopefully if I need to take my new truck in I will not have to see this bozo.

Unfortunatley both dealers get failing grades on both their parts department and their accesory sales dept. Absolute jerks!!

A couple of months ago I really considered trading my 97 for a new one. I went to 4 different dealers. I even would call them before going, so I would have the correct salesmans name. Dealership #1. When I called the salesman said he would return my call after checking to see if he could get tk I want. Never call back. When I called them back, I find out I had previously talked with the owner!!!Now if the owner wont call you back, what can you expect of the reg. salespeople?? Another dealership I had the husband with me. Salesman COMPLETELY ignored me. Husband had to tell him that he wasn't interested in new tk, I WAS. And I'm pissed. Needless to say, I wasn't going to buy a tk from him. 3rd dealership, the salesman they "assigned" to me, never seemed to be there when I was. 4th dealership, OUTRAGIOUS prices!!! No way. I guess he thought that since I'm female that I wouldn't notice the few extra thousand he tacked onto the truck. I still have my 97!! Maybe in 2000 I will attemt this again.

I bought my '98 Lariat and my wife's '97 Taurus SHO at Gem City Ford in Quincy, Illinois. They treated me great, I got an amazing price on both vehicles (I bought the first '98 they had, on the first day they were released for sale by Ford.) I brought the truck in when my ABS light started coming on. The tech did an excellent job and seemed to really enjoy working on the truck. I stood out in the service bay watching him work the whole time and no one tried to chase me away. After he replaced the first sensor, he ran the diagnostics again and found ANOTHER sensor that was failing. If he hadn't done that, I would've been back in soon after.

Overall I was very happy with the sales and service side of things. Of course, now I live near Chicago, some 275 miles away, and I don't know who to bring it to up here. Anyone out there have any GOOD luck with South Suburban Chicago area dealers?

Tried to buy my son a 97 Lariat at Arrington-Blount Ford in Lawrenceville Ga. These people are the absolute worst in North Georgia. While we were there they treated my wife with contempt, tried to BS my son into eveything imaginable and screwed the credit app. up twice. When I got both the salesman and the sales manager together, they tripped each other up by giving me entirely different stories about the finance rates, trade allowances, etc. and then they wanted to argue with each other about it.

I have had several bad experiences with their service department as well. Trust me gang - you need to avoid these people like the plague.

Everyone listen up, I'm going to make this as simple and straightforward as I can:

1. Buy your vehicle from the dealer who is willing to make you your best deal.

2. For service take your vehicle to the dealer with the best reputation for reliable and competent service.

3. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER LISTEN TO SO MUCH AS ONE WORD A CAR SALESPERSON HAS TO SAY ABOUT ANYTHING, INCLUDING THE WEATHER AND/OR TIME OF DAY.

Have I made myself clear?

Bought a New 99 F150 4X2 4.2/5 Speed the end of March. Salesman sold me on their customer service if ever a problem arose. 3700 miles later truck won't go into 2nd smoothly and grinds going into 3rd. We make an appointment and I drop off the truck. 2 days later I am given back the truck and being told the tech took it for a quick ride and no trouble was found. Couldn't really investigate because they were too busy. This is after the fact that 2 days prior to me dropping off the truck I stopped in and let the service manager drive the truck and they confirmed a problem. They rescheduled an appointment for the following week, gave me back the truck and said they ordered parts to fix the truck, but were guessing what was wrong with it. Long story short. Dropped off the truck, they dropped the tranny, NTF. So they decided to replace it???? Sounds suspicious. I am 11 days without my truck and the dealer is playing games. They were great for the sale, but the dealings with them after the sale has been
horrible. This may end up in the jurisdiction of the lemon law.
