Greetings all!

Hello everyone! I'm a newbie to this site and I would just like to say that this looks like a great place to hang my hat.

I just purchased a '99 F-150 4x4 the other day. Nothing real special, it's a reg. cab long bed with a 4.6. It is 2 tone green and silver and has the XLT package. Even though it isn't anything special, it is almost exactly what I wanted. I wouldn't mind having the 5.4, but I was having a hard enough time finding a RC/LB that i decided not to bee so picky. Not a single used one had a 5.4 in it anyways. I also would like a CD player, but I can always get one of those.

I guess my first question (out of many I will have down the road) is... How does the 4.6 compare to the old 302 engines? I think so far that it seems a lot better, but I haven't really tested it yet.

All for now.

Hello, and welcome!
I don't think too many make it down to this section of the boards, so it's not that people are anti-social, just engrossed in all the info!

I think the SOHC make a big difference when comparing the 4.6 to the 5.0.

Have fun here and watch out for the "mod bug. It's quite contagious and running rampant!

My 4.6 is great. I upgraded the intake with a K&N FPIK and that really opened things up. I noticed the quicker response immediately. Can't say too much on the 302, it's been many years since I had one.
