Firezap,
Just down in that area last week! If I remember correctly - Columbia is west of Lancaster on the Susquehanna . . . !
Last Thursday we went to the Chocolate Factory at Hershey (my house is about 3 miles from the park); went for a buggy ride in Intercourse; rode the train in Strasburg; and ate to the bursting point (especially fried chicken and Sho Fly Pie) at Good 'N' Plenty . . . !
Never thought I wanted to go back to that area but after spending time just about everywhere else - it sure looks good to me.
Where do you plan to shop when you move back?
The Depot at New Cumberland has a nice commissary but no PX (BX to you I guess) to speak of and Carlisle is quite a drive! Do you know of any place closer?
The best to you and yours . . . hope your retirement is all you expect it to be!

Yea just up Route 30.
I do some of my shopping at Redners just down the road from my Dad's house. The meats and deli's are cheaper then the commissary here, by about half. As for the BX/PX I don't shop there much now so no real problem. My dad has land in Juniata County so Carlise is on the way, it's about 60 miles. Was just there today at the All truck nationals. I'll have tricare as secondard health care, just love this new military. Just need to get a job that has good bennies.
I'm looking to retire in either southern Lancaster County or up your way if I get a job in Harrisburg.

Firezap,
The Feds have pretty good bennies if you can get in! I worked for the USDOT for almost 8 years before I decided it was not what I wanted to do.
I think I'll try to land a position as a candy bar at Hershey Park . . .
