DYNOED Today, Questions
Whatever Mike,Mr. Super Ego
I guess since I'm 24 and full of maturity as Mike seems to agree with me, I will be the bigger man and walk away. I don't need to site here a belittle you any longer, we all know you can do that yourself. Besides anyone who spends 24 hours a day responding to post obvisouly doesn't have a life. It's sad to see that someone this well respected on this forum, is so egotistical and shallow, and might I add narsasistic. But I guess that just goes to show you some folks are the devil in disguise when it comes to making a dollar$$$$$$$$$$$
Ps. f150intally, I will get back to you on the Gibson Shorty Headers I'm having them installed today. I will let you know how they work out.

Mike,
Just an outside observation, but I believe you misunderstood RR's initial post.
From my reading his post I believe he was simply asking your professional estimate of how much HP and torque he was making, NOT that you dyno his truck for him.
Myself and others have often asked numerous questions that I'm sure you're seen time and time again, yet I've never seen such a harsh response directed at one of us. For that matter, I've seen people disagree with you and not be answered in such a caustic manner.
I'm not trying to stir the pot here, but I felt someone who trusted your professional opinion deserved at the minimum a little more respectful response.
Rolling Rock,
Personally I would have never guessed your younger age based on the posts I have noticed from you. Take it with a grain of salt. Like anyone else in life I'm sure you were simply trying to expand your knowledge base on the topic, something many of us older guys are doing as well. If I come across any links that show dyno data related more closely to your truck I'll be sure to pass them on.
As for taking the high road rather than escalating the hostile tone, that deserves a thumbs up.

Hi Jay,
Yes, Sean did contact us, and he seems like a very nice fellow. He was supposed to send over his dealer info to us for verification though we haven't seen anything yet. But this just happened, so I'm sure he's probably just busy like the rest of us right now!
He did mention that his primary expertise was primarily in the "ricers," (and no, that term does *not* automatically infer the typical disrespect too many people show for the performance imports), but that he also wanted to be able to do more and offer more for customers who own much heavier trucks & SUV's as well.
We talked briefly about the numbers coming back higher than expected, but we really didn't have time to discuss techniques, etc. for dyno'ing these trucks. It was nice to chat with him for a few minutes, his dyno is a Mustang unit with eddy-current option according to him, and it sounds like he and I share opinions with regard to the typical inertia dynos. It also sounds like he's making more than a reasonable effort to obtain the hardware to do the best job he can, and that's always nice to see. We look forward to hearing back from him, we'll see what happens.
This just might be a very nice connection for you over time, as you do more mods, and for him to practice his technique & gathering weight data so the load factoring will be more in line when he starts doing more of these heavier trucks, so you just may have found yourself a nice place there!
Thanks for sharing our info with him, & we'll do everything we can to accommodate his needs, of course.

Thanks Mike,
I'm sure if the Magna goes in my truck, Sean will be the one to accomodate you and I for tuning purposes with his dyno and ADS wideband sensor. We will make the runs capturing A/F on his dyno and send them up to you for tuning.
Also want to thank Performance Products for the Christmas card. That was very thoughtful of your group.
Happy Holidays,
- Jay W.

I just wanted to let you know I really appreciate the post from you. It's nice to see I wasn't the only one who felt the response I got was a little harsh. And to respond about your insight to my post, you were exactly right. All I was asking him to do was give me a ball park estimate, not for him to spend hours calculating my horsepower. To say the least bud it shocked me, I have viewed many post that Mike has made and have never seen him respond in such a manner. Then again I myself was a little disappointed with the way I acted, I try to never lower my self to someone else's standards. Well, I guess my anger just go a way from me for a day or two. Well Sign, thanks again I really do appreciate your open view to my post, and I look forward to chatting with you again on here. Take care and have a nice day, Rolling Rock 1978 PS. Just wanted to let everyone know I got the Gibson Headers installed and they kick A#%. Well, worth the money spent!!!!!!
HI!... I've read over MIKE T's posts in this thread over and over again. I don't see anything wrong with what he said at all. I think some of you need to stop making something out of NOTHING and get along with your lives. GEESH!!!!!!!
let me see if i can pull key questrions and answer from both so some can see how this got off.
question:
answer:
If you want to know what power your vehicle is making, take it to a good eddy current chassis dyno. Sure, we'll do that just for you, & nobody else would would ever see that and expect us to do the same thing, right?
the guy asked a question that he half way knew the answer to.
mike basically said " it will start a big domino effect". if mike had just typed "NO" would that have been better, how does that make him look?. would the proper response be:
"sorry we cant do that for you as everyone else would expect the same".
see with that resonse makes Mike looks like a bean counter and noboby takes into consideration that Mike could be staring down over 250 hour of estimations.
words of advice: never ask a business man for something FREE, unless it is for a donation or charity. There is no correct response, "free" means you go out of business, "NO" makes you look heartless.
know come on, if you heard 2 guys having that exchange would you think "oh chit" did you hear what he said?
Rolling rock, if it offended you I dont blame you for your response. 2 sides to every story.
question:
Without starting a big domino effect I was wondering if there would be anyway you could do the same for me

THAT was too harsh?!?!? Theres even a frickin smilie at the end!, its called playful sarcasm!
To whomever thought that was "Not nice" ~Grow some hair on your sack pansy ***! Damn, is this the barbie Forum or Ford Trucks???
Here we go!!!!!! I was wondering where all of Mike's Groupies where?
Okay first of all, if any of you took the time to read my last post you would see I said I was sorry, Sorry to Mike NO, sorry for letting my anger get out of hand, YES. As I said I try my best to never lower myself to someone else's standards and I did that. So that I'm sorry for, Infact I appoligize to the forum for this. Now, as to how I felt after reading the resoponse from Mike I will not appoligize for. It's easy for all of you by standers to site here and critisize me, but if Mike would have responded to you in this way I think you all would feel diffrently.
I realize I might have made a mistake asking the question the way I did. I'm also sorry for that, I just thought it wouldn't be to hard to give someone a ball park figure on Hp, espically since I planed on buying a fan kit from him to begin with. I mean he#@ that's what this site is all about sharing one's knowledge with others, or maby I'm wrong. Maby I misunderstud the purpose of this site, maby it's all about making money and bragging to each other!!!!!!
The fact is, if Mike would have responed to my question in a more personable way I would have not gotten the attitude that I did. Mike could have said No, I'm sorry RR 1978 I can't do that on here however if you would be willing to give me a call, I could do this for you, for a small charge. I would have be willing to pay him, the fact is he didn't give me that option. I would have rather paid him for a reasonable estimate then taking to a dyno and spending alot more $$$. From what I read about dyno's latley depending on the dyno it's self and the knowledge of the opperator, I would have proabably gotten a better answer from Mike anyway.
So you see gentlemen, I respect Mike's knowledge I have nothing at all against Mike other then the way he treated me when I asked him a legitment question. I never once questioned Mike's knowledge of vehicles, I would have been a fool to ask him his opinion on my Hp if I did. Thus is the reason I don't understand why everone has jumped on the BASH RR 1978 Wagon. But in all honesty I knew would happen, however I'm the type of person who will rise against the masses when I feel I'm treated unfairly.
I guess that is how I'm diffrent from most of you, because had this happen to one of you and I read it, I would have questioned Mike's response. I wouldn't just site there and take sides because Mike is so well respected on this forum. Thus is the reason I don't understand the comment's made by you BIKENUT. It takes some series ***** to site there and qustion my Maturity after reading the statements you made!!!!! I will give you a friendly suggestion
take a look at yourself before you critisize someone else. You see, I did nothing to you at all, but you would still like to site there and critisize me. You know nothing about me as a person, if you have a problem with the question I asked Mike that is one thing, but to question my Maturity that is another. Please BIKENUT do us all a big favor and grow some hair on those little bitty BIKENUTS you have!!!!!! Then after you do this, we will talk about maturity.
I really hope I made my self clear on this situation. I hope some of you will better understand why I felt the way I did. As for the other's that will continue to BASH me, there is no help for you anyway, so I will no longer waist my time on you. I can only hope that one day you will have a mind of your own.

Wow, what a thread!
I have waited to respond on this "issue" with RR here for a couple of reasons......first, I'm frankly just too darned busy with the 300+ emails & posts I answer every day, and taking care of our actual customers to bother with someone's BS hurt feelings because I didn't do their bidding on demand. They can't seem to understand what was so accurately pointed out by numerous others as exactly what my response was, "playful sarcasm."
I thought that would have in fact been quite well understood and taken by RR due to his rather painfully obvious "domino" reference in *his* post, just like the rather painfully obvious smiley-face in *my* post. I have to say I'm beyond shocked to see his far less than mature conduct in his responses, but I just considered the source and let it drop. Just as I did with those who seem to think along the same lines.
Second, it's CHRISTMAS 'fer Christ's sake!!!!!
You know, a time when we're supposed to be spending time with our families, & maybe being a little nicer to each other this time of year, and many of us have failed miserably at that in this thread, including myself as of this post.
This year we were so swamped with FREE work from the extra 120 or so additional emails every day (over last Christmas, not over the rest of the year) from F-150 Online members and additional posts here (almost none of which involved us selling ANYTHING, but instead involved us giving up our time to market for more sales to help others instead), that I had to completely forgo my wife's birthday altogether, AND any semblence of decorating for Christmas, getting a tree, shopping for gifts for my wife & family, etc., in order to fulfil our actual obligations to our customers AND do all the free work we did this time of year.
Am I complaining? No, of course not, we're the ones that choose to do all the free work we do to try and help the F-150 performance community as a whole, and we're happy to help those who are smart enough to appreciate it. But for those who EXPECT it, or to be subjected to the childish attacks of RR et al, over my refusal to do his bidding does make my blood boil.
This should be the ONE time of year when people pull their heads out of their keisters long enough to maybe even be thankful for all that EVERYONE (not just us!) does here who actually has some real knowledge that is generous enough to spend their time sharing that with others here, just as we do, instead of being hateful and spiteful over the fact that I declined to do even MORE free work than we already do.
The comments of "businessman first, Ford enthusiast second" are particularly offensive, for anyone who actually thinks of us like that after spending any time here, I suggest you march right into your employer and demand never to receive a paycheck again for *your* work, and see how well you pay your basic living expenses, like a mortgage, insrance, car payments, insurance, gas, health insurance, food, etc., forget actually trying to pay the expenses of an entire COMPANY.
It's always FAR easier to complain, whine & moan and insist that more is never enough, but you'll notice it's almost always done by those who expect people to work for them for nothing, yet those very same people aren't out doing whatever *they* do for a living for free as their first priority. Funny how that works isn't it?
The *worst* aspect of it all is that it's EXTREMELY tacky for me/us as F-50 Online's oldest vendor (or for any vendor) to even have to explain something like that, to point out the real facts in the couple of paragraphs above are things I *never* thought I'd have to point out to anyone, let alone people here on F-150 Online. I find it absolutely disgusting to even think along those lines, and am thoroughly ashamed at having posted what I just have, but I saw no other option than to ignore it, which seems to only fuel the fires of a few, er, um, "gentlemen," to the point that other good people come riushing to our defense. I'd say I'm just as ashamed at what I've just posted as all of you who are whining about "how badly RR has been treated" or how we're thinking of ourselves first, etc. should be.
Good grief, people!
This will be my last post on this issue, and I'm going to sum it it all up very simply................. if RR wants to act like a man, stop his whining & posturing here and pick up the phone and apologize for his conduct, then I'll be *more* than happy to do the same in return to him (as is only fair and right), and give him the info he wanted to have in the first place! Which, by the way, he could very easily have had all along for just the price of a 5-minute phone call. Who knows, he might just be a fun guy to sit down & have a cup of coffee with, or maybe come to one of our Rallys & have some fun, etc., I think that would be a wonderful outcome we could all be proud of.
And if that doesn't happen, that's perfectly fine as well.
Our very best wishes to all for a joyous holiday season, & our fervent hopes that we can ALL get back to being a bit nicer to each other this time of year, and grateful to each other, ALL of us, for all that we all do here and elsewhere in our lives for the benefit of *others.*
