Superchip Installation Instructions

Does someone have the Superchip installation instructions handy that they can scan in and email me? I have misplaced mine and would like a copy to put in with all my documents just in case.

Thanks.

Hi Tray,

Thanks for calling to let us know all is well with your installation, I did get your message, thanks!

One thing I do need to point out here, if you are referring to the instructions that *we* write here at Performance Products for installing the Superchip into an F-150, those cannot be published or distributed in any way, shape or form without our *prior* written permission, which we do not ever give under any circumstances. Those are copyrighted materials, and we do not allow anyone to have them that did not purchase their Superchip programming directly from us. The only way to get our documentation is to purchase the product directly from us, and our documentation will accompany the product. We will also replace those instructions for any of our customers that lose them, etc., of course.

If you want to pass along the *manufacturer's* single sheet instruction, that's fine (and thanks very much for your willingness to help others here!), but please do not distribute any of our Performance Products documentation.

Just letting you know, & thanks for understanding................

I will also respond directly to dufunnel to try and help him properly as well, as we can help him right away to find docs & photos that will help him quite a bit, and some other advice, and I'll go do that right now.............

Hi dufunnel,

I think we can help you out here one way or the other, & sorry I didn't notice your post before or I'd have responded sooner..........

If you purchased your Superchip directly from us here at Performance Products, please contact us with your full name & the address we shipped your Superchip to you at, & we'll be more than happy to immediately provide you with a replacement set of our instructions so you'll have them on hand and in good shape. We can email our docs, or FAX them, or snail mail them, whichever you prefer!

If you did not purchase your Superchip directly from us, that's OK, as you can still get some good docs and that is very easy to do.........in the technical articles here on F-150 Online, you will find a link to an article that was done by a customer of ours a few years ago, it also has some great photos, and that will be a much better help to anyone over just the manufacturer's single-page instruction sheet.

And if you also want the manufacturer's single-sheet of instructions, we're more than happy to pass that along to anyone who has a Superchip regardless of where they got it!

The distinction of whether the product came from us is simply one of copyright, our instructions that we write can only be distributed to our own customers. We provide our own much more highly detailed docs as a benefit to our customers for having done business with us, we try to make their installation as easy as possible.

For everyone else, there's that great article & photos (which some people like to have anyway, even in addition to our docs!) right there in the tech articles section available for immediate access 24 hrs. a day that will do an excellent job of getting anyone thru the installation.

So either way, you can very quickly get access to good docs that will help you install the Superchip or just to have on hand.

Please let us know if we can be of assistance,

I was simply looking for the Superchips one in an electronic format that I could get quickly. They don't seem to have one and won't return my calls or emails. I actually bought mine used and misplaced the instructions I got with it, but I am collecting all my truck documents and would like to put these with everything.

Thank you and I hope I don't get anyone in trouble.

Hi dufunnel,

Please don't worry about that, you're not getting anyone in any kind of "trouble" at all. All you're doing is trying to get some documentation, exactly as you & anyone else in your position *should* be doing!

The manufacturer does provide installation instructions for the Superchip, but it's somewhat "generic" documentation in that it's not written for the F-150 specifically, it's just instructions on how to install the Superchip onto the Ford PCM. The manufacturer's docs does not go over things like where to find the PCM in the F-150, the best way to remove it, the lip on the mounting bracket, and all the other little tips & tricks that we feel are required to make a first-time installation go smoothly with no surprises in these vehicles. That's why we write our own documentation for our customers, so they'll have all that info right up front, and thus not have to guess at things & maybe screw something up, or get frustrated, etc., and it also cuts way down on Tech Support calls.

We want *everyone* to have quality docs on this installation regardless of where they got their Superchip. Even if someone picks up a Superchip used that doesn't come with any documentation from the previous owner, thanks to Chris Duke's article anyone can easily access that information by simply going to the tech articles section here and printing it out. The article actually resides over at his web site (a competitor to F-150 Online, so I won't mention it's name), and the Webmaster here has graciously provided a link to that article so people here can access it.

We strongly suggest even though you may have the Superchips manufacturer's docs by now, to please do take a couple of minutes and go download Chris' article, as it has good photos and much more information that is specifically to help the F-150 owner. Once you see it, you'll immediatley recognize how much more helpful that is than the manufacturer's docs. This is of course up to you, it's just a good idea to have on hand for anyone in your position, where they either got their chip used, or for whatever reason don't have anything other than the manufacturer's docs.

One last point I should mention is that for anyone who buys their Superchip used, if they bought it from someone who originally bought it new from us here at Performance Products, we will continue basic warranty coverage against outright failure of that Superchip module. I don't know where you got yours from of course, but if it was from somebody who bought it new from us, contact us with that person's name & information so we can verify it and then record you as the new owner. Then you'll have protection just in case the module ever actually fails outright. That's relatively rare, but it's always nice to know you have that protection, just in case.

Good luck, & please don't hesitate to call us if you ever need help with your Superchip!
