Question TCIL flashing w/schip

Hi Mike T. or anyone that may know.

Got some info. from tranny bd. Tcil flashing. 99 4R70W

Question:
a/t..."tcil" been flashing. I removed s.chip...tcil stopped flashing...i assume any stored codes have been erased?

So now im back to OEM.. PCM program...1/4 tank 91oct. I guess i just keep driving till the "tcil" starts flashing again? a/t seems to be shifting ok even with tcil flashing? Hopefully no problem using the 91oct?

Because i cleared PCM...i assume it has to learn why "tcil" was flashing? Then i'll take to shop.

Thanks for any info.....OT

btw....thought i was gonna get free scan at our local Auto Zone..but the scanner their using only reads the engine codes..not the ones when "tcil" is flashing.

Hi OT,

I assume what you mean is that your Transmission Control Switch light is flashing. That has nothing to do with the Superchip of course, it only stopped flashing because you cleared the PCM when you removed the Superchip, which clears most codes, that's all.

The Overdrive light is flashing to tell you that you have a transmission problem of some kind, as it says in your owner's manual, and that could be a number of things, such as a simple sensor issue or internal issues, and that does need to be checked out ASAP to avoid potentially more damage by driving it like that. Sometimes it's nothing, just a temporary condition, but we always advise having that checked right away, just on the off chance that you might be able to prevent additional transmission damage by driving it if something has failed internally. Just FYI.........

You may still have a code stored even with the light not flashing currently, sometimes you'll get lucky and still be able to pull the code. Then again, many times you'll have to wait until it starts flashing again before you can retrieve the code, but it's worth scanning now anyway.

You're right, what AutoZone does for free is to pull OBD-II codes, they don't pull any extended manufacturer-specific info like transmission data, etc.

Good luck!

Hi Mike T.

Yes...a/t...tcil...od light flashing.

I kinda figured i was in for another "crap shoot" $75. for scan..if no codes...tcil flashes later..do i pay for another scan? Hmmmm!
Maybe i'll get lucky...geez! I know! Oh well...gonna find out.

Thanks for info. Have a happy thanksgiving.

OT.....

btw...if you see this...does the "microtuner" read the a/t codes/data or just OBDII?

Hi OT,

The Micro Tuner reads OBD-II powertrain DTC's (diagnostic trouble codes), so it reads all of the OBD-II P-codes, basically. It will not read the extended manufacturer-specific info, or allow you to see real-time sensor data, it's strictly an OBD-II code scanner.
