Yo Mike!

I read in someonelse's post that you can make a chip to work with 87 octane gas. Can you tell me how much HP/TRQ I will gain with this 87 octane Superchip? I have a 4.2 v6 with the 5-speed. The Only mod I have so far is a Flowmaster si/do exhaust. Thanks for your time.

Hi PM

Until Mike T. can reply....did you try "search"? I think that was posted sometime ago.

My ride different but i do use schip/flipchip 87/91+oct. Plus other mods.

You have 5sd..so no change there. There would be if a/t.

I use 91+ ALL the time now...because for me theres so much performance difference between 87/91+. Unfortunately i loose a few HP with the 91 (no 92+ local)...see what i mean.

I know...it cost more for 91+ etc..But if you REALLY want the most...gotta go with the most. So...just keep reading/asking!JMO

Good luck...OT

Thanks OT. I still would like to get a custom chip programmed for 87 or 89 octane though. With college and all my bills, I just can't afford premium gas right now. But when I get out of college and get my job, I'm going to get a Lightning.

Hi Peacemaker,

Well, it will vary based on things like your altitude & fuel quality (the energy content, # of BTU's per gallon), but figure that on average, you'll see about 5-7 more hp on those V-6's with our tuning for 87 octane. So it is significantly less than with our performance tuning for premium gas, as OT noted in his response, but there is still some gain, and you also get all the other benefits, delays & retards removed, etc.
