Hey Mike...

Sorry that we've kinda been playing phone tag lately. I'd like to talk to you about some Kooks long tube headers and some high flow cats. I'm not sure when the best time to get to me would be (I never know when I'll be in the dorm or not), so when would be the best time to get a hold of you in the daytime?

Thanks!

After seeing his setup and then looking at mine, I was like " I need a Maganflow setup now LOL. I have ot decide which muffler(s) to go with. The DI/DO, 2 of the ones like Neal, or 2 of the 4" round ones. I dont know.

I still can't decide what kind of muffler I want... I want to keep it exiting like I have it (dual tips out both sides behind the wheels), but I'd like to be able to get a bit more out of the exhaust system, especially since my cat's need to be replaced pretty soon. (They're starting to smell pretty bad.)

Hi Flea,

No need to apologize at all, I spend so much of my time on the phone doing detailed consultations that many times I'm on another line when someone calls and thus we do play a bit of phone tag sometimes, so I really should be apologizing to you, most likely!

We just got back from SEMA, so we'll be in the office as usual starting Monday morning at 10am Eastern as normal. And I would expect that since I've been out of pocket for a week that Monday will be hectic.

There really isn't a "best time" to reach me, however there is a "worst" time, and that is generally late afternoon when we go into production for each day's orders to be shipped. Say, about 3:30 pm to about 5 pm Eastern, roughly, would be a "worst" time so to speak, and any other time is basically fair game. We're here M-F from 10am to 7pm Eastern, so I'd say if we need to go over anything detailed, to call by say, about 6 pm or so if possible since we may be speaking for some length of time. If someone calls me at 6:50 pm with something that's going to take an hour, that isn't good timing some days, for example, though we do stay late virtually every day, I personally try to get off the phones by 7 pm Eastern so I can get on to all the email and everything else, you know how it goes.

The bottom line is don't worry about any of that, you just call whenever you can, and we'll do our best to accommodate *you*.

Good to have you back among us! How did the SEMA show go?

Anyways, I also need to talk to you about a reburn; my parents are "suprising" me with 4:10 gears for christmas, and I need to speak with you about that. I think that high-flow cats are going to be my first purchase... I'll work from there on better headers and whatnot.

I'll try to give you a call later in the week, as I'm sure you need to get caught up in the office... plus, I've got a damn philosophy research paper that I really should get on...

Hi Flea & Beastie,

It was great talking with both of you again today, thanks for calling.

SEMA was a blast, but it's really so large that it's exhausting (they added at least another 100,000 sq. ft. this year), and between the show and the traveling and how long it affects us here, it's a real grind. If we never went to another show, that would be fine with us, we basically regard it as a necessary evil, so to speak. I love seeing all the new stuff, but we hate being away from our customers for a week, and then playing catch-up for 2 weeks afterwards. We were so busy we didn't even have time to gamble (much). I think Anita might have found time to lose a whopping $20 at a blackjack table, and I never gambled at all until we were waiting on a late plane to get out of Vegas, so I played the slots at the airport (and won for a change), until the plane came & I had to quit in the middle of a good winning streak. It's no fun having to carry hundreds of quarters on the plane, but then, it's always something!

Beastie, Year One had a big booth and was looking great, they'll take good care of you & your Dad on the 442 parts, & you'll soon be enjoying an aggressive new exhaust setup on your truck!

Flea, congrats on getting the 4.10's for Christmas, Santa really stepped up to the plate for you this year!!

Have fun with your new mods guys, & talk to you soon!

Yeah Mike, I called every exhaust shop in the phone book, and a few specialty truck/rice shops, and they all said that there are no mandrel bending machines in the state, the closest one is somewhere in Texas. I guess I will just go with normal compression bending or whatever they call it. well 2-2.25" non mandrel bent pipes is better than 1 2.25" non mandrel bent. I did find a hop I like, and the people are very helpful and quoted me $200, so I will probably go there. I only wish they did mandrel bends.

Awesome news Mike, Anita (Big Thanks) got me my tracking #'s, and I am scheduled to recieve everything on Friday!!!!

Hi Beastie,

Glad to hear everything will be there on Friday, that's mighty darn quick considering your 2.25" stuff wasn't in stock (we stock the 2.5" & 3" usually), that's excellent!

Have fun getting your new exhaust done this weekend!

Hey Mike, look what I got, you all ROCK. I am getting it installed at 8:00 am tomorrow. When I put the x-pipe up to the mufflers when they are side by side, it is about 1/8" off, so I will just get the shop to put like a 3" long piece of tubing from the x-pipe to each of the mufflers, so that they can get it to align. The quality of everything is great!! Thanks SO MUCH

A little review of what Mike's setup did to my truck:

BTW Mike, they couldnt get the Air Tube to hook up without a lot of trouble, so they just left it disconnected. I mean it was only gonna be on 1 cat anyway, and its not like we have emissions testing in Louisiana or even if we did, I am positive I would pass. Well even on my old system, since I had the rear cat removed, and the airtube was after the front cat, it wasnt doing naything on my old setup, evept pump some fresh air into the muffler, LOL kinda defeated the whole purpose. Well it runs great, and I have no check engine light or anything. This was well worth the money.

All right guys. After driving 100 miles today trying to find a shop that would actually work on my truck. Most didnt want to remove the old cat, but I finally found a shop. It was actually the first place I was told to goto, but I pretty much forgot about them. I love the name, Bob's Muffler Shop, and I had Bob and his son do the work LOL. Well they did a great job and the sound my truck has is just nice. The Flowmaster used to be really loud, but that was it, it had no tone. The new setup isnt as loud, but it is DEEP and aggressive. It sounds like an old muscle car. I will get some sound clips, but they never do it justice. After I got home, I wanst feeling good, so I slept for like 6 hours. And to top it off, LSU lost 31 - 0 DAMN!!! Well after that, I took it out, and me and Intel decided we would see if it made an difference on my truck other than the sound. Well never spinning the tire off the line is a thing of the past I can do it for a good 2-3 seconds on a good road. Well we only raced once. And since I never used to spin, his truck would be somewhere around my back bumper at the top of 1st, and through 2nd, he would put about 2 truck lengths on me. Well now, since I spun I was only about 3 feet ahead of him off the line, but through 1st and secong, I actually put a truck length on him. So if I would have had a decent launch, I probably would have had him by about 2 trucks. Rather than loosing by 2. SO I gained about 4-5 tenths I would say. And that was only to 70mph, I am sure I run the quater at like 81 or so. So while this did cost me a pretty penny, install was $373 ( a little steep, but they were one of the only shops who would do it, and would do a good job) and all the stuff I ordered from Mike wasnt cheap either, I am very happy with the outcome, I think the truck just sounds mean now. I tried another launch later that night on the same road, and I rolled into the gas and at about 5mph I punched it and got a little chirp. This has never happend before. So the low end has picked up a nice amount, and the high end is really there. I will get tons of pics tomorrow. And I might make a vid, I have to see how I am doing on time.
