V-6 and Superchip
I have an 01 4.2 5-speed.
My question is to anyone with a V-6 and a superchip. I have been thinking alot lately about getting the superchip for my truck. I would really love to get a Microtuner, but since there is not one for the V-6 yet I have been thinking Supership.
Have you noticed much of a difference in performance, especially if you have a 5-speed? If so can you tell me what you think of it and any other thoughts you have about it be it good or bad.
Thanks...

01 XLT Sport,
i have a superchip and love it. i have a v-6 5 spd like you and can not say enough good things about it. i have a lot more power all over my power band. my throttle response has improved drastically. it bassically made my truck wake up. i would totally recomend one.
i heard that there is a micro tuner out for our trucks now...but am not sure. mike will let us know about that one.

Please DO NOT TEASE ME....
Is there really a micro tuner out for the V-6? I have been waiting BIG TIME for that. I almost bought the micro tuner until Mike asked what size my engine was. I know it's more then the chip but I like the idea of not having to touch the computer, and that I can unload, or download the program as often as I want...
I really hope they have a tuner for us V-6 guys...

You got here before I did 01 LT Sport! LOL!
I would like a micro tuner for my v6, but if it's too pricey, I'll just get a Superchip. The micro tuner has more features than the chip, but the chip would be cheaper I imagine. And I think they both give the same amount of hp/trq. gains. I may be wrong about that. Not sure.

Peacemaker:
You are right that the HP/Torque is the same be it the chip or tuner. That's what Mike has told me. Remember that the mirco tuner can also be used for reading OBDII codes as well.

Hello Everyone,
No, the Micro Tuner is not available for the 4.2 V-6 F-150's yet, the V6 F-150 owners still need to use the traditional Superchip module, which is significantly cheaper than the Micro Tuner, as of course the Micro Tuner has more features, like it's built-in OBD-II code scanner, etc.
The power gains on the manual-transmission vehicles from the Superchips tuning is exactly the same as with the automatics get, there is no difference in engine tuning; the manuals actually get more of that power gain to the rear wheels, as manual transmissions consume about half the power that their automatic counterparts do.
Also, you aren't giving up any power gain by using the traditional Superchip modele instead of the Micro Tuner in those models where both products are available (the V8 F-150's), so don't worry about that. There's nothing new in the actual engine*tuning* with the Micro Tuner, it's just a matter of a different type of device being used to deliver the same engine tuning, basically.
I hope that info helps, & please feel free to give us a call should anyone want to go over any of this in more detail, etc.
