Im not sure if Mike will get to your post today and if not it will prolly not be for another 8 days or so, he is getting ready to go to the big SEMA show in vegas for the week. I dont think prices can be discussed on the board so you will have to call or e-mail him.

Hi mf150,

This is my last round of responses before we head out the door for SEMA, so I have to make this quick.........................

Well, there's the single program Superchip module, then there's the 2-program Superchip Flip Chip module, and last, the newer Superchips Micro Tuner. The prices for them are in our online ordering system, the link to which is always in every post we make here, in our signature line just below. It is against the rules here to post prices on the message boards, so we cannot discuss that here.

The Micro Tuner is what most people are using now thanks to all it's features, such as adjustable WOT shift points and firmness level in the automatics, the ability to correct the speedometer and odometer for gear ratio & tire size changes in the 1999 & up models, and of course, it's built-in OBD-II code scanner. The Micro Tuner can be used with most of the simple bolt-on mods like intake kits, cat-back exhausts, electric fans & underdrive pulleys.

If you are going to do more involved engine modifications such as a supercharger, or changing the MAF or fuel injector sizing, ported heads, etc., then you won't be able to use the Micro Tuner, you will need to use the traditional Superchip module.

Feel free to call us for more details, we'll have one of our staff here while we're at SEMA so our phones will be answered from 10am to 4 pm Eastern on the 4th thru the 8th inclusive (and as always, our Tech Support voicemail is on 24 hrs.), and then we'll be back as usual next weekend.

Talk to you soon!

Hi S'CrewLoose,

Thanks very much for you help with mf150's questions, that was very kind of you.

If I don't say this, sure as heck someone will call me a hypocrite, so please don't take this the wrong way, as I have to say this in the interests of fairness here...............The rules about posting prices also apply even to our prices from our online ordering system here, just so you'll know (I know it can be confusing sometimes), and again, I know you were very graciously helping mf150, & we thank you sincerely. Just letting you know...........

(Now I'll shrink away, feeling like an ungrateful jerk..........)

All kidding aside, thank you very much for your help, & for understanding, S'CrewLoose, it's greatly appreciated!

Mike and everyone, thank you!

I'm thinking of the tradtional superchip. I'm not going to do many major mods. Just have the FIPK and cat back exhaust. I have the stock wheels.

I'll be calling Mike sometime next week. Thanks for all the info!

mf.

To save space:

how hard is it to install a superchip? I've heard that the hardest part consists of removing the coating on the stock terminal.?

Hi mf,

The Superchip is easy wenough to install that literally over 98% of our customers do it themselves. For us it's a 20-30 minute job, for someone who has never done it before it's more like a 45 minute job.

Yes, the single most important aspect probably is the thoroughness of the removal of the conformal coating, and our instructions are very clear on that, written to take the first time installer thru this smoothly with no surprises. Anyone who reads and carefully follows our documentation can easily get thru it.

The actual attachment of the Superchip to the PCM is very easy, it is literally a Tab A into Slot B deal. To accomplish that, you're pulling the PCM out & popping the covers off to clean the connector, and once that is done, it's extremely simple to attach the Superchip to the PCM and install the PCM back into the vehicle. There is a little "lip" on the mounting bracket that needs to be straightened out or trimmed to prevent interference, and that will take a little while, as one of the bolts on the mounting bracket can only be turned a little bit at a time.

All in all, it's simnple enough that almost everyone does it themselves, it doesn't take a mechanic, etc.

Hi mf150,

The Superchip does not void your new vehicle warranty.

It is important to know what your actual legal rights really are with regard to the effect of aftermarket parts on warranty, which are covered primarily under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. You can read more about this at:

www.sema.org/fedleg/warranty

That link has been around for years, and they sometimes change links at that site, so if it doesn't take you directly to that info, just drop by the home page (www.sema.org) and then look for information on warranty.

Basically what the law states is that as long as whatever you do to your vehicle or install in it does ot actually cause *damage*, then your warranty remains intact, by law.

In general, things like the Superchips tuning, an intake kit, a cat-back exhaust, electric frans, underdrive pulleys, headers (if they are ceramic coated) etc. do not void your warranty. Now if you do things like say, a supercharger for example, you can probably kiss your powertrain warranty goodbye, same goes for nitrous oxide, as those types of modifications can push components beyond their design limitations of course.

We do advise removing the Superchips tuning, whether it's in the Superchip module or the Micro Tuner (or any performance chip for that matter) prior to any service work, at a dealership or not, simply because you always want the PCM in stock trim for diagnostics, etc.

I hope that info helps, & feel free to call us if you want to go over any of this in more detail, etc.

Slight delay. My truck is in the body shop now. This person of low morals had just rear-ended a lady in one of those new Hybrid cars...cracked her bumper. He decided he did't want to stay and take responsibility, so he pulled out of his lane and crashed into my truck ( I was in the next lane over from the accident). The lady said that my truck was a hero due to the fact that it stopped the hit and run driver from escaping. Needless to say, I will be delayed in purchasing the Superchip. I will wait until I get my deductable back from his insurance.

Waiting patiently...

Hi mf150,

Good grief! Since you don't mention any injuries, we're hoping that means both you and that lady are fine, and that it's "only" the vehicles that were damaged.

I agree with that lady's comments, it's a darn good thing your truck prevented this clown's escape, I hope this means that the police were able to nab that "gentleman" and dole out some justice.

By all means, have patience & take care of your priorities first, the Superchip will always be available down the road, all good things in their time!

Good luck getting the truck fixed!
