Chips for Pre-97 Models
Chips for Pre-97 Models
Would like to see who is using them and were they got theres. Looking into one for better control of my tranny functions, possibly eliminate my Rev limiter. and get a better tune for the blower
Thanks

Alright, the chip did wonders. The shifts in the tranny are like this. At light throttle, it actually makes the shifts so you cant even feel them. By the time you get to 3/4 to WOT, the shifts are nice and firm, no delays. Dont expect the shifts to be as firm as shift kit will make them, but they will be firm and positive. As far as performance. I had 235/75R15 tires, and when I only had exhaust and an intake, I could only spin the "tire" sometimes. When I installed the chip, I could spin that tire, for about 5 feet anytime I wanted. I went to a much larger 275/60R15, and I can still spin these, only for a few inches, but when I removed the chip I wasnt even close. When I used to get blow away in 2nd gear, the power really comes on now. I used to get beaten by a 2000 F-150 4.6 from 45-75 by about 3 truck lengths, now I am actually about 1 truck length ahead of him, well that was till he added a chip, and how he beats me by about 2 truck lengths from 45. My gas mileage increased by about 2-3mpg. In my opinion, the chip is well worth the money. It was by far the best mod I did, BY FAR. And dealing with Mike and Anita is second to none. His customer service alone made me choose his chip over anyone elses, and if it is the nest chip, why not get one from him. Plus he sells anything you can want for the truck. My ignition upgrade that I got from his is great. Good Luck with whatever you do, and I would give Mike a call before you make any decisions.
Oh yeah, I see you have the JBA headers, how do you like them, how hard were they to install, and was the power increase worth it?

I bought them used from a guy in Alaska. I would not pay what he paid them, just way too over priced in my opinion. . I think that if I had not gone with a blower I would have just bought a set from Summit for 160.00 bucks. They are a little smaller and I wouldn't have lost any torque. I did pick up on the top end. My exhaust system now would be too big for just a 302 IMO. But I do like them. I have a set on my Mustang also. They took about 1 hr to put on. They are a single flange design. and the come already coated. Also remember I have a 4x4 so I got a little more stuff to pusj around. BTW What is Mikes contact info
Thanks

Thanks for the review of the headers, I would go with the summit ones, but they will rust in 1 day, I want something that is ceramic coated or similar. Will any shorties for a mustang fit our trucks, or are they different. I know they have different part numbers, I just wasnt sure.
Mike wont be back till November 11th, he is ath the SEMA show. His number is (540) 862-9515 call him then.
The computer is in the drivers side kick panel. Pull it off and look past the parking brake assembly and you will see it. Pull it out from under the hood, you will save about a half an hour.

It took me about two hours. When I got them on they came loose initially so I had to pull everything back apart to re-tighten. They are Good bolt on. Everything I read on them in the Mustang magazines says about 10HP. For a 100 bucks used you can't beat em. For the upper intake I just used a long extension with a magnet right close. It was a star type head. I think I used a brake socket bit to get it out. I would hate to see were the power band had ended without them on the Dyno
