Red face Diablo chip

I have a stock Expedition XLT with a 5.4 L Eng. I just installed a Diablo Chip. The chip has came with mixed result. My truck has lost 1 1/2 sec. from 0-60. That is the diff. from when the chip is engaged and when it is not. It has also caused my sirpentine belt to slip when it hits second. I was woundering if there was somthing that I can do to stop the belt from slipping. And I was woundering if that is a common thing when a Diablo chip is installed.

Hi DansExp,

Actually, that brief squeal you hear from your serpentine belt is common when installing any performance chip in the late model Ford F-150 & Expedition. It's due to the quicker & firmer upshift in the automatic transmission actually, part of what that chip is doing, which is why you only hear it on the WOT (wide-open throttle) 1-2 upshift.

Install the Goodyear Gatorback serpentine belt and you'll never hear that again. We worked with Goodyear on getting them available in a number of different sizes as needed in these F-150's and especially in the supercharged 5.4's in the Lightnings & Harley's, so we carry them in stock if you'd like to give us a call, we can get it right out to you!

The factory serpentine belt is "OK" quality from the standpoint of how long they last before the ribs actually start cracking, but their actual grip on the pulleys is poor, just replace it with the Gatorback & that will take care of it once and for all.

By the way, welcome to F-150 Online!
