Question for Mike T.
Mike, I have bee running a SuperChip Micro-Tuner in my 2002 SD
CC,4x4 Diesel Automatic transmission for about 6 month's. I am running the standard CARB file. I also have a drop in K&N filter.I do not pull a trailer or haul heavy weight. ( truck weigh's 7,400 # ).My question is it it safe to run this proram with no intake or exhaust modification's.
I do not have a pyrometer at this time so I do not know the exhaust temperature's. Fuel mileage is mid 17's local and mid 21
highway. No smoke.
Thankyou for your time.

Hi Jim,
What a coincidence, we have a friend named Jim D'Amore.
You can use the CARB program in bone-stock trim with no EGT gauge if you want to (though we suggest any turbodiesel owner have an EGT installed), and you can still tow right up to your full rated capacity if you want to as well. That CARB program will *not* cause your EGT's to get out of line even in bone-stock trim, it is safe to use.
If you want to do intake & exhaust changes at some point, you won't need any changes made to the Superchip tuning, either.
If you are going to use our Offroad program, then you'll need the engine to breathe better to get the full power and to keep EGT's down as well.
But with the CARB program, you don't need to do a thing if you don't want to, you can run with no EGT gauge, in bone-stock trim other than the Superchip tuning, and drive it just like you normally would, literally install the Superchip CARB program tuning & forget it.
If you decide you want to do an EGT gauge, or intake, exhaust changes, etc. at some point, please feel free to check with us on those items as well, as we do all of that and more here at Performance.
Meanwhile, good luck & enjoy your new PSD!
