Hypertech Chip Module for 92 302
Will a Hypertech Chip module help the performance on my 92 F150.It has a 302 with K&N filter,Flomaster exhaust,Flotech shorty truck headers and AOD transmission.

Dont waste your money on a Hypertech, get a Superchip form Mike T. It made a huge difference. the shifts are awesome, and the power is there. It also works at any throttle position, the hypertech only works at Wide Open Throttle.

You may or may not get a good performance gain from the Hypertech, it just depends on how close their generic program is to the actual software revision inside the PCM in your individual truck, as different functions (fuel curves, spark maps, etc.) are located in completely different places from one software revision to the next. These F-150's have hundreds of different software revisions (computer codes, as we refer to them) each model year alone. However, even at it's best, the Hypertech won't gain the power or improve the performance of your truck like the Superchip will.
The Superchip is made specifically for each individual vehicl's exact computer code instead of being generic & compromised to run on all similar vehicles like the Hyeprtech. The Superchip also tunes the engine for maximum horsepower and torque *all* the time, at any throttle position. With the Hypertech, they only add power during open loop operation, basically only at extremely heavy to wide-open throttle, so it's usefulness is very limited by comparison.
The end result is, you'll get a better result from the Superchip which is why we use them, as we focus on the best part in each area of modification, checking out each manufacturer's engineering capabilities & testing their products, to decide whose products we carry and recommend here at Performance.
