need advice on used SuperChip install
I bought a box of aftermarket F150 parts from a friend of a friend. Could someone tell me how to install the chip and what I should expect from it in a stock 01 F150SC 4wd w/ 5.4? I dont even know where the computer is?
I've taken it to the track to get a baseline and my best et is 17.58. Do I need to match the # on the chip with the truck's computer.
My chip says: 11001095305 S021262 SVB1-RS
thanks

Eric,
You need to do lots more studying before you try to install that chip in your truck. 11001095305 S021262 SVB1-RS . I'm not sure what the first 18 charactors are or the last two but the SVB1 looks to be the computer rev. number and that is just a guess because I happen to have the SVB1 code on my computer. Look on the passenger side door frame and notice a sticker with a 4 digit code..thats your computer code, if it matches, it has a chance of working in your truck. It still may not because of custom programing that may or may not have been done to that particular chip. I'm thinking you do not want to risk your ECU by installing an unknown. If you still insist on giving it a whirl, i'm sure a search on this site will yield enough info to get you in trouble....
just my two pennies..........you gotta do, what you gotta do......

I talked to tech support at Performance Products. I have code UAT3 in my f150. To install it correctly it needs to be re-flashed with the right code, its going to cost $75.
ScrewLoose...have you ever gotten a 1/4mi et with your mods? If so, what was it and what mods did you do?

Yes, it is important when buying a used Superchip to make siure that it *already* matches your computer code, or you'll have the expense of having it reprogrammed.
What was on that chip was the serial number info from the manufacturer, along with the computer code, SVB1.
Anytime someone with a used Superchip needs help installing it, they can simply take a look at the "How To" article on this web site, as it has pictures & enough written description to help just about anyone install their chip in these F-150's.

Eric,
I don't race my truck, it is a 4X4 supercrew...I know some guys might, but I figure if I want to race, I'll buy something that starts out fast. as far as mods for my truck, not much in the way of performance mods, I have the superchip and electric fans, both from Mike and Anita @ Performance and I have a drop in K&N air filter...thats about it. I will in the future go for a cat back system but not sure when or what I will install.

ok, thanks. I don't race mine either but I do like to get legitimate, real world results after I make mods to ensure it was money well spent. I dragrace cars so I like to know if the manufacturers claims are valid. If so, I may apply their product to another application. It also lets me know if I have installed the product correctly or picked the wrong product for my particular situation.
