Just call guys!

OK guys. I know we're all into the new age of the internet and all, but do yourselves a favor and make a phone call to these folks. I subscribed to a few threads when I was trying to make a decision on superchips and I have to tell you...You have to start using the phone. At least if you're not going to read all the responses to the threads that are already here. You'll save everyone a lot of time and you'll be very happy with the response. Mike's group is very low pressure. It's not like going to the dealer to buy the truck in the first place. They're very cool and will answer all your questions on the spot.

My experience is only with the microtuner. (I'm a simple man when it comes to mods and the chip expense didn't stack up against the tuners. ) It's simply the best and easiest mod I've made so far. Probably more simple than installing my K&N!!! With the ability to read diagnostic codes it's also by far, the easiest expense I've had to justify to the wife.

Hi Larry,

I agree with you to a point, while you should call to get concise answers to specific questions, asking a general question here has always been and I think still is acceptable and welcomed. You may think reading through all the posts is ok, but some people like to ask a question and get an answer, its called interactive. The search engine at this site is great and if you want to find info you can, but better than the search engine are the people that frequent this site and most are happy to answer and comment on any number of subjects. I for one don't want to see F150 online turn into a library of f150 info, I like to interact with the folks here. I also agree that Mike and Anita are down to earth easy going people but I like seeing answers to others questions....I see things that I'd never think to ask and am sometimes disappointed to see Mike respond with "Give Us A Call" I do understand it, but I like it better when he answers and if you look at the number of posts he has under his belt, he answers plenty. One more point, if one were only allowed to ask a question that has not been asked before, we'd all be here twidling our thumbs.

Just my $0.02

I agree with you to a point too. I especially agree that often you can find answers to questions that you'd never even think to ask. It just sometimes hard to find them amongst all the repeated questions. It doesn't bother me that there are multiple threads with the same question (or at least close), it's when the same question is repeated within the same thread. When trying to make my decision on a chip vs a tuner, I read them all from beginning to end. Believe me.

Hi Fellas,

You both make good points, and it's obvious that we do make quite an effort to go over things here **when appropriate**, but there comes a time when we have to say "Give us a call."

It also must be remembered that the policies of F-150 Online *prohibit* us from providing Tech Support here on the message boards, those same policies requrie that *anything* that is of a nature that is betwen customer & vendor be conducted privately, off the boards, and so on. So it is *never* appropriate to expect us to provide Tech Support or assistance for any product we provide here on the message boards. Those matters have nothing to do with F-150 Online, therefore they aren't to be handled on F-150 Online, it's to be handled privately, between vendor & customer.

Another aspect of all of this is quite simply that as long as we can cover more in a 5 minute phone call that we sitting here typing for an hour (which will *always* be the case), we're always going to have to handle anything detailed, involved, or numerous questions by phone, those things simply are not appropriate to be commun8icated by typing it all out.

And last, it's absolutely true that there will always be "repeats," as long as we have new people coming to the site, there will always be those who ask questions that have been asked before. Those people need responses too, so sometimes it'll be a referral to the search feature here, and sometimes it'll be approproate to go ahead and answer it directly here, and sometimes it'll be a matter that requires a call. But by no means can we tell all the newbies across the board that just because somebody else asked a particular question before in the past that they cannot thave an answer, so we'll always try to accommodate those "newbie needs" as best we possibly can.

Thank you both, gentlemen, for your support & your comments!

Well, I kind of agree with all of you to certain points.

First I agree with Mike as far as providing tech. support "if" it is something specific. If it's general like how to clean, or install then I think that is fair game to ask and be answered. If would be like me asking someone how should I installing my spark plugs, what torque etc.

As far as someone asking "when will my chip arrive, I ordered it yesterday" then I think that belongs off line and over the phone as I am sure if I ordered a chip no one really cares to know when "I am" going to receive it.

As far as the search goes it does sometimes work great and other times you just can't seem to find an answer to a particular question you many have. While I would encourge people to use it I find nothing wrong with someone starting a new thread to ask a question. I agree with S'CrewLoose that this should not be a "library of f150 info".

I do beleive anyone asking a question due to having problems with a superchip (or any product) is very fair game because it gives all of us insight to a problem we may or may not be able to take care of. Kind of like "Fram filters suck" but best to use MotorCraft. I think that is the most important ****ion of this Ford forum to uncover problems and how to solve them, is it a problem we created or a problem from production, is it something we would recommend to others or not.

The only problem I have ever had with Mike is when he told me the "tuner" was not for the V-6 and won't come out for a while.
He could of at least told me a little white lie to hold me over and give me some hope that maybe in a few months I was SO close to ordering it . Then again I have to say I respect he was stright with me and not like most sales people "well it won't put a program in your V-6 but you just have to have the code scan"
