I just bought a flip chip for a F150 XLT 4x4.

However, I just bought a 2002 L.

If I send the flip chip back to you, can you reburn it for the Lightning?

If so, what kind of advantages does the superchip offer for the Lightning vs. the Diablo chip?

Yes, we can reprogram the Superchip for your new 2002 Lightning, sure, and congratulations on your new Lightning!

The primary advantage you'll have with the Superchip tuning over not just the Diablo but literally any other chip is better and more accurate tuning, thanks to better skills and a lot more R&D. Nobody else has the amount of sheer raw R&D into the Lightning platform as Superchips does, nobody has had anywhere near the number of them on the dyno, at the track, or on the road, you name it, it's been tested for, driven, raced, tested again, and over and over at Superchips. We helped supply a number of those vehicles here at Performance and were involved in some of the testing during ongoing development of the Lightning programs. For a long time we worked daily with the engineer in charge of Lightning-platform program development at Superchips, as here at Performance, our customer's Lightnings have won everything from the Ford World Challenge to the Silver State Classic.

We carried the Diablo line too for some time, and so have made many direct comparisons, looking at everything from air/fuel ratios to exhaust gas temperatures to actual power numbers at the same A/F's to performance and driveability, and in each case the Superdhips tuning was better.

I'm really just sounding like a commercial at this point, so rather than blather on, let's just say that we can run any tuning we want in our 500+ hp Lightning & our other F-150's, but after having tested them all, our vehicles wear only Superchips tuning, period. That says it all.

On the 2002 Lightning, you'll see about a 30 horsepower gain. Earlier Lightnings, like the 99's & '00's would see well over 40 hp, but the 02's aren't nearly as pig-rich from the factory, and so at safe A/F's you see about 30 hp on the 2002 Lightning with the Superchip.
