bjoern,

Good job on the aritcles . . . !

Wurzburg . . . ? I spent four and a half years (Nov 79 - Apr 84) in the Army legal office in Aschaffenburg! Our headquarters was in Wurzburg . . . got down there once of twice a week, most of our courts-martial were there.

Also, did three years in Ansbach (69 - 71) and three years (75 - 78) in Grafenwoher. For that tour we had government quaters in Munich so I only got home on weekends. Never got snowed in at Graf but it happened a couple of times when it was time to go back to work.

I bet you really miss home (if you still consider Germany home)! I never learned much of the language (enought to order a beer and a wurst) but we did travel as much as we could. Loved every minute of it! I often heard Americans say how bad they were treated by the Germans but, in my experience, I have been treated worse right here in Massachusetts.

Now you got me wanting to go back - lets see now, I can fly over for $10.00 (military standby) and the Armed Forces Recreation Centers are still open in Garmish and Chiemsee . . . so what am I waiting for . . . !

Bob

It's not so bad. I may have grown up in the same spot, but I've been traveling a lot ever since I was a little kid. There are good things everywhere, you just have to find them. I miss things from home for sure, but when I go back, I'll miss things from here, too. The reverse is of course true, too: there are things I'm happy I don't have to mess with here and some things I'll be happy to get rid of when I'm back there.
LOL Sounds like I need to keep looking to find the perfect place to live (if it exists).

10 (in words TEN) bucks????? Indeed, what are you waiting for? Can traveling (no matter where) get any cheaper?
