The Long Awaited Toy

Well.... After procrastination and gathering as much information as possible I have finally purchased a Superchip! It should be here Monday. So I can have fun trying to figure out how to install it after Jury Duty....

I have actually wanted a Superchip for a long time now... But I have been taking too many vacations lately. I think this is going to be my last mod however because this is a daily driver. However I am going to be purchasing a new car here soon afterwards and work on the 11 second barrier. I will most defiantly tell you guys how much more umph I can feel after the chip is in. Hopefully I can notice the seat in the pants difference. Because I wasnt too impressed with my HypertechIII. Anyhow, I am rambling on. If you guys have any cheap performance Ideas I may also be interested in that.

Hi 4X4PWR,

I think that's coming from us, if you're the gentleman up in Alaska as it appears. That one was for UPS Red delivery to Alaska for delivery on Monday, is the only reason I remember any details, I happened to see that Friday afternoon.

You'll have very thorough documentation with your Superchip, most of it written by us. We use a different technique for cleaning the connector than what you will see on the manufacturer's instructions, so please make sure to read our Performance Products documentation carefully & completely before starting the installation. It's written to give the first time installer all the info to do a smooth installation with no surprises, if carefully read & followed, so you shouldn't have any problems at all.

If you do, we're just a phone call away, of course.

Good luck!

Thanks Mike.

I spoke with Anita and she was a great help. I am looking forward to getting the chip here sometime later in the evening! I can hardly wait.

I was the one from Alaska who wanted express mail. =)

I know it will help out a lot here in the winter. I am purchasing a new snowmachine and the extra power will most defiantly help with pulling it. A buddy of mine recently purchased a Johnny Lightning chip for his 02 Lightning and he is going to help me install my chip if I get it after 5:30 our time here, since he has already gone through the steps before. If I get it before then, I will most defiantly be too anxious to wait and install it before then. I have heard that you guys have great documentation and I will be following it to the "t". I want to make sure I dont have any starting problems later down the road because I did not clean it correctly. Thanks for all of your help and if I have any problems I will be sure to give you guys a call.

On another note, I heard you guys were going to sell Grilles in the near future... Is this true?

Thanks again,
Kendall

Hi Kendall,

Good, glad to hear it!

I'm sure you'll be fine if you do the installation by yourself, the additional documentation we write will take the first time installer thru this with no surprises, so you should be fine with all of that.

Yes, we are getting into more & more items, and we are taking a long hard look at a *lot* of grills, and frankly it's a nightmare, as everybody and their brother makes grilles. There are so many different manufacturers' and many different types, replacements, slip ons, those that are just inserts to be put in front of the factory grill, etc. We'll only deal in "the good stuff," leaving the cheap stuff where it belongs, elsewhere, so I don't know exactly how long it will be before we decide on which grills we'll be carrying, but yes, we're going to be doing more of the appearance items as well, that is true.

In addition to doing virtually anything performance-related, we also already have a beautiful line of billet parts for the interior & underhood of these trucks, enough to turn them into a real show vehicles very quickly.

Have fun & talk to you soon,

Thanks Mike and tell Anita thanks for me as well. I was able to install the chip today and take it out for a couple of test runs before I went down to my local dealer and bought some new badges.. I figured I might as well get two things done in one day. =)

I installed the chip and it is AMAZING! Well worth the money! It was like driving a car again! My 4x4 slug turned into a drivable and fun vehicle! I also acetoned my badges and put those on today. I only got the two fenders done today because my hands were a little sore from peeling off all of that adhesive after taking the badges off. That surprisingly was the most time consuming thing out of all my things I did today!

The shifts are really stiff, I love it!
The speed increase was amazing and I can tell already my gas mileage is going to improve... Just driving it is seems soo much quicker and I love the throttle response. I havent tried flooring it yet because 3/4 the way down does really well.. Maybe one of these days I will stomp on it and see if I got that "chirp" option programmed into my chip.

Thanks again mike the instructions helped out wonderfully! I nearly installed my chip and then i looked over it again with the rubbing alcohol, good thing I didnt put it in. There was a whole bunch of that goo still stuck inbetween the connections.

Hi 4X4PWR,

Great, I'm glad you took the opportunity to see what a properly optimized powertrain program can really do for these vehicles.

Congrats on the acetoned badges by the way, that is a fair amount of work but it sure looks good, the results are well worthwhile. If you happen to have any good digital pics you'd like to share of your truck, our web site is under construction, so please feel free to forward them along to us.

Have fun!
