I thought we were not going to do one of these threads.
You can call Mike on the tech support line. They check those messages and call ya back.

Here are a couple of things to check untill you here from Mike.
First...make sure you have cleaned off all the conformal coating.
I thought I had mine clean enough and then when I checked it with a magnifying glass, I found some coating on one contact.
The instructions give ya some good ways to check for this.
Second... as silly as this sounds, I'm going to throw it at you...
Make sure you don't have the chip plugged in upside down...it will plug on either way.
Third....make sure you follow the instructions on resetting the computer...(bleed all power of PCM by turning on the headlight switch for the full five minutes after you disconnect battery cable.
Most likely it will be a simple cleaning issue. That coating can be on just a tiny spot on a part of one contact and mess ya up.
Also look at the back of your chip to make sure no coating has gotten inside the contacts of the chips from when you put it on your PCM.
Hope this helps you some.

Get it going and see if you can drive from east Texas to Plano in under 15 minutes with the new performance gains.
Good Luck paul,

If it's just a little coating left behind it's really little, when I get home from the lake tomorrow I'll pull it out again.
Thanks Paul
Hi Paul
I understand. I went thru same thing.
Rock gave good tips. Just be careful on overcleaning.
I think MikeT. said he was currently at a rally. So be patient..hes a good man. Do call him.
Of course, if YOU get it working...disregard/have fun!
Good luck...OT

HI!... Since your truck is a "99" most likely the problem with your "NO START" is you have one of the rare computers that have the "JUMPER" problem. A number of PCM's back in "99" had certain 'JUMPER" connections not soldered together. I think this was FORD's way of keeping people from using aftermarket chips. I'm not totally sure on that but you would have to ask MIKE T when he gets back from the RALLY. I too had this "NO START" with my "99" when I got my 1ST SUPERCHIP. I simple sent my computer to SUPERCHIPS and the soldered the proper 'JUMPERS" together and sent it back to me at NO charge.
150/Paul,
I have a 99' supercab 4.6. I have experienced all the agony and glory of the chip.
Bought a used chip off this site. The guy I bought it from had a 99' that had to have the computer board "jumpers" soldered.
Cleaned computer plugg in. Put chip in. No start.
Tried cleaning it again. Chip in. No start.
Pulled computer out. Four (4) little "jumpers" on the computer board needed to be soldered (there are several configurations of computer boards). I took it to a computer repair shop. Took about 15 min. Cost around $40 bucks. Same day I put chip in and it started first try! But, if I had bought it from Mike Troyer I would have sent it to him to make sure it was done right.
A couple months later it stalled once.
A month later after installing lowering kit, it stalled twice within 10 miles.
Pulled computer/chip. Under a bright light and a magnifiying glass (did not do first time) I found coating on one little contacts out of thirty (15 on each side) and in between the contacts. Removed coating, drove 3700 miles on 7 day trip and have now put over another 1,000 with no problems.
Mike T. is at the Rally, but as soon as possible his organization will help you.

After reading Neals post, I'm going to have to go with him on this one. I have read of others with the exact same thing.
What a drag.
Paul, with the new chip you should be able to reduce your time from there to here down to 15 minutes...LOL.
I bet Neal could turn it into a 10 minute drive with his set up.(JK)

Hello F150/Paul,
Sorry to hear you're haivng a problem!
If you will call us, we can get to the bottom of this pretty quickly. We don't know who you are from your screen name here, otherwise we'd look you up in our records and call you right now to see what's up. We also don't know if you have perhaps already called us while we were at the Rally on the cell line that we make available for Tech Support anytime we are at an event like this weekend's Rally, as a number of people that needed us called that number this weekend and got teh help they needed.
The policies of F-150 Online require matters that are of a nature that is between customer & vendor be conducted privately, off these message boards. Things like pricing, order status, Tech Support, etc. just for example, are things that are between the vendor & their customer or potential customer, they have nothing to do with F-150 Online and so that kind of content is not allowed here.
Our Performance Products documentation has a section titled "What to do in the Event of a No-Start, & How to Get Technical Support."
If as of this writing you are still having any problems, what you need to do is to CALL US, so we can help you. Give us a call at our number listed below, the same phone number that is in your Performance Products documentation, and you'll find we are happy to help you in any way we can, we want you up and running just as much as you do!
Nobody besides us can give you the proper suppport, only we know if this is going to be a jumper issue as affects a tiny # of certain '99 model for example, or what have you, only we can really help our own customers to properly determine that. This is usually just a simple matter of not cleaning that connector properly, over 98% of the time that's the problem. Or, in a tiny percentage of cases it could be something else, such as your vehicle's ECU having been reflashed, or any number of other things, all of which we can pretty easily halp you determine and correct. Just about everyone here on F-150 Online are nice people and will very graciously try to help, but they can only take you so far. They don't have the detailed knowledge of this like we do, just as we don't know how to do what others do for a living, like how a dentist does a root canal, etc.
So please, if we have not already spoken to you by the time you see this post, give us a call, ok?
Sorry you're having a problem, and we look forward to talking with you soon!
