Mike, new guy questions
Mike, new guy questions
Mike,
I am getting ready to start modifying my 01 F150. From reading the other posts, it sounds like the best mods to start with are intake, exhaust and a Superchip. I was wondering if a Superchip can adversely effect my engine in the long run. Also, does the chip reprogram the computer, (ie. can I remove the chip and have my computer go back to how it initially operated). I have just started looking into performance chips, so I do not know a whole lot about them.
Thanks,
jwolter77

Hi jwolter77,
Ahh, timing is everything.
I say that because I just got thru typing out a thorough response to this same question over in the first thread you asked this in, the thread titled "Newbie needs some advice," as I saw that one first, so there is where you'll find your answer in detail. Drop back by that thread and read our response there, as it goes into detail about each of those modifications, important things you need to know about each.
Briefly, in case you see this response first, no, the Superchip does not have any detrimental long-term effect on your vehicle, you can use it for as long as you own the vehicle and not have to worry about it affecting durability or the service life of your vehicle.
Make sure to read our thorough response in that other thread, as it has a lot of info you'll want to know about the intake & exhaust changes especially. And don't hesitate to call us if you'd like to go over anything in more detail.
Good luck!

Hi jwolter77,
No problem, and no need to apologize, we're all friends around here.
You're right, when posting a new question, it's always easier to find when you start a new thread as you did. You can ask what you want to ask in any thread you like, but sometimes you'll forget (like we do!) exactly which thread it was in, etc.
The bottom line is, as long as you get the info you need!
