Superchip and idle question
Superchip and idle question
I have a 94 150 5-speed with a 304 and have been considering a superchip to help with low-end power. However, my idle tends to wander high when I shift gears, so I was wondering if a superchip controls the idle and might possibly help.
Thanks

Hi c-helix,
Welcome to F-150 Online!
While the Superchip will help by giving you about 10% more power across the range, it is not going to fix any mechanical problems.
Sounds like you have some kind of issue going on there that needs to be properly diagnosed. Since you mention having a 304, I assume you have a bored 5.0 V-8 motor, either a standard or performance rebuild, perhaps? Point being, you may have a simple MAF issue, EGR problem, etc., or this may be the result of parts that aren't quite properly matched, though I tend to suspect a simpler problem here.
I'd suggest giving us a call so we can go over this with you in more detail and thus have a proper understanding of exactly what's happening, that needs to be done first. Give us a call when you get a chance & we'll go over this with you if you like, to see if we can help or if you need to go another route.
