Superchips Programming
Superchips Programming
I have noticed several different dealers selling Superchips. ie. Mike (Here), JDM, and JDL, etc.. I was wondering if everyone uses the programs supplied to them by Superchips or if they develop there own? If they do it themselves I see quite a bit of risk? Any input would be appreciated. I just bought a Superchip and need reprogramming...
Hi Scaminsky,
The vast majority of Superchip dealers do not have anything other than what Superchips provides them. Most of them do not specialize in powertrain programming as we do so quite naturally, to most of them the Superchip is just one part of hundreds of even thousands of parts they sell, so they do not have anything involved to do with actual program development, R&D etc. of the Superchips programs.
There are a few of us, such as we here at Performance Products as the oldest Superchips distributor in America and doing the highest volume of F-150-specific programs, and JDM (who has had much to do with the Lightning program development over the past 18 months), that do have a very active and direct involvement with helping to develop the features of programs for various types of vehicles; while some of them are special programs that nobody else has, in every case they have the blessings of Superchips, so you don't have to worry about getting something that is dangerous for your vehicle.
Because we are a JDM distributor, we also have the JDM versions of the Superchips Lightning programs here at Performance Products that we have been granted permission to use by JDM under a special contract. Jim D'Amore of JDM I consider to be a friend, and we have been working together for some time now, we sell a lot of their parts.
It's up to you of course, but given the experience we have with the Superchips powertrain programs in these F-150's, I'd suggest that you give us a call to discuss your reprogramming needs.
The bottom line is, that vehicle needs to be properly tuned for it's modifications, fuel quality and how it's being used, assuming it has more than just the simple bolt-on intake & cat-back exhaust done to it. Please feel free to give us a call so we can go over exactly what you've doen to the vehicle, how you're using it, etc.
Good luck!
