Any tips on getting the bracket out? That "lip/tab" (more of a lip to me) is the PITA in this project

>>For mounting the toggle switch for your Flip Chip,m what many of us do is to use the existing "tabs" under the dash on the passenger side,

so many tabs. not sure what you are referring too here Mike.

Hi F150aGoGo,

There is no shortcut for removing that bracket, and it is attached in a few different ways depending on model year & assembly plant, which is why we don't have any photo's available. That is something we'd really like to have, good digital camera pics of that so we can include it in our next docs update, we're constantly refining those docs over the years as we see more different things in these vehicles. Speaking of which, if you happen to have a digital camera and can take some pics of that and briefly describe how it was best dealt with in your vehicle (and that goes for anyone else reading this post), please feel free to send them to us! I think it's just a matter of incredible odds, but since we've had our digital camera, we've not had access to a vehicle with that problem so we could shoot it & document it as we'd like to. By the numbers, we should have seen a number of them, but we just haven't since we got our digital camera, for whatever reason. Nothing would make us happier than to be able to document every possible variation, we're data hounds around here!

You'll probably find that there is a 10mm bolt that retains that mounting plate/bracket (that seems to be more common on the ones we've seen in the past, going from memory), and that is a bit of a pain simply because you can't turn it very far each time, so it usually takes about 15-20 minutes to get it out so you can trim or bend that lip.

With regard to finding the tabs under the dash on the passenger side that already have a perfect size hole in them, just look is all I can tell you, that really isn't difficult at all. Try looking along the front edge of the dash in the area of the glove compartment, for example, that's one place you'll always find a few of them. And if you don't find one of the them (which I can't imagine happening, there are several), then just pick a spot & mount it. Some people put them in the glove compartment and you don't have to extend the lead for that, then some people extend the lead and mount it in the ashtray, or over on the driver's side, etc., use your imagination if you can't locate a tab, but you really shouldn't have any problem finding the tabs or mounting the switch, you don't have to do any wiring at all, just mount the switch. Spend a few minutes looking under the dash on the passenger side carefully with a flashlight, you'll find them.

Last, please remember, if you need Tech Support, pick up the phone and call us just as our Performance Products documentation clearly points out in the section titled "How to Get Technical Support.........".

Tech Support cannot be done here, by virtue of the policies of F-150 Online which require anything that is of a nature that is between vendor & customer (such as Tech Spport, pricing, order status, etc., those kinds of things are what we mean) are to be communicated priivately, off the message boards, in addition to the fact that it takes 100-200 times longer to try to type out something detailed than it does to cover that over the phone. Accordingly, for those 2 reasons, the way to get Tech Support from us is by phone, & thanks very much in advance for your understanding on that.

Good luck & please don't hesitate to call if you need or want to, we're always happy to help you in any way we can!
