Mike, I have a question for you

Mike my nephew wants to buy a cheap used car and he wants a fast one. Please in your opinion and taping your knowledge which is the fastest car made straight from the factory. He hasn't got the big dollars but you know not a Saleen/Cobra but anyway maybe between a Mustang GT 5.0, a Z28, Monte Carlo GT and so on. And in the years of say 1982 to 1993? Greatly appreciated...Jim

Check out my Gallery if you got time.

Mustang 5.0 is a good choice. Parts are cheap, easy to work on, and are pretty fast from the factory. I wouldnt go lower than an 89(first year with mass air) I think 93 was the best year. Check out www.corral.net

Hi Jim,

Talk about timing, I need to call you today anyway, so I'll try to get to that a little later!

The 5.0 Mustang from 88-93 is a fine hot-rod platform that is cheap, and cheap to modify as well. The 5.0 Mustang has more cheap performance parts than any other vehicle I know of, so I'd look for a nice 91-93 5.0 to put him in, with the 1993 model year being the most preferable to most 5.0 enthusiasts.

Good luck & talk to you soon!

Thanks for that info.

Thanks for the info. Appreciated. Bought a 87 5.0 HO GT 5 speed coupe. $1100. It was at this lot for sale and some drunk from the tavern next door backed into it twice!! 2 front fenders bumper lites unreal!! Shock towers bent though..needs the pro I guess..So another project..very strong engine running dynamax headers and from what I can tell a hot ignition to go with the cobra intake and high flow heads. Thanks again..Jim

PSS I believe that 87 to 93 are the same.
