Talking !!!Superchip!!!

I put my single code superchip in last Friday (through Mike T. ). I had a full tank of 93 octane and the install was very simple. The added instructions/tips you get when ordering from Mike make things go smoothly. I do suggets removing the battery and tray even if you don't have the off-road package, makes things a little easier.

The shift improvements are great and the performance was noticable at first but now that I have almost 400 miles since the install and the computer has now fully learned the new settings I can feel a BIG difference.

If anyone out there is contemplating this mod like I was, it is definatly mandatory IMO and worth every penny.

Hi kpaton,

Thanks for your post, glad to see you're enjoying the Superchip!

As you accumulate the first 350-500 miles, it will get stronger as you've noticed, as the ECU "adapts" to it's new program fully.

I have to knock on wood, as we've been very lucky and never needed to remove a battery on any F-150 that didn't have the Offroad (ORP) package. However, there have been a few of our customers that either had larger hands, or due to their configuration had another component mounted there on the firewall, and so they removed the battery as well, even though they didn't have the ORP. Very few need to do that, maybe 10% of the non-ORP's need to remove the battery. A good trick for those with big hands is to use a flex drive.

Thanks for your comments & have fun!

ME TOO

I installed my Superchip today in my 4.6 Supercrew. Noted a great immediate difference in the transmission shift ing...really like it!!

There seemed to be at least a noticeable change in performance within the first 50 miles, or maybe I was psyched up to think there was.

Either way, I am hoping the good "feel" will get a little better with time. I have seen some posts where people expect pavement burning power increases, but I think I am more realistic.

Might even get better mpg, too!!

Hi gozreh,

Actually, as long as you clear the ECU as our supplemental Performance Products documentation describes after installing the Superchip, you will start to feel it's effects very quickly, within 20 miles or so.

It generally takes about 350-500 miles to get the full 100% of the effect of the Superchip as the ECU adapts to it's new programming, but you get most of it (about 75%-80%) pretty quickly. You'll notice that it gets stronger as you accumulate some more miles.

Glad to see you're enjoying your Superchip, & thanks for your post!

Thanks Mike T.

After about 150 miles, the truck really runs great...

Quick shifting, more "torquey" (is that a word??), and more pleasureable to drive overall....another happy chipper.....

Hi gozreh,

Sure, I think "torquey" is a valid word to describe what you're feeling. I don't know if it's actually listed in Websters, but it is a common term used by automotive journalists, so it's plenty kosher as far as we're concerned.

I love mine as well and have gotten an increase in gas mileage, I get roughly 50-100 more miles per tank depending on the driving.

I would wait until you get the 5.4 so you dont have to pay for a reburn.

Hi Poter,

Welcome to F-150 Online!

The policies of F-150 Online prevent us from discussing pricing issues here on the boards, that is done to keep the boards free of what is considered to be blatant commercial content, and it's a very good idea.

However, you can get that info right away by just clicking on the link just below in our signature line that will take you to our F-150 Online Superchip online ordering system, so you can see the pricing right there.

The Superchip can be reprogrammed for any 1987-2002 F-150.

If you'd like to go over exactly what the Superchip will do for your specific truck, please give us a call at our number listed below & we'll be happy to go over all of that with you thoroughly, as well as what to do when you want it reprogrammed for another F-150, etc.

In the meantime, we hope you'll hang out with us here on F-150 Online in your spare time & enjoy the site!

Hi Piercon,

In case I haven't said it before, welcome to F-1150 Online!

Yes, when you order your Superchip from us here at Performance Products, you will automatically receive our additional Performance Products Superchip documentation, and it goes into just about anything you'll run into, such as the fact that you'll need to remove of the battery in ORP models to gain access to the wiring harness for the ECU. This is easy to do, you'll find that our supplemental documentation is very thorough. It's written to take the first-time installer thru this smoothly, with no surprises. We're just a phone call away as well, should you have any questions about your installation.

By the way, I was just looking at your signature line where you mention that you might be doing a supercharger at some point in the future.................... when you're getting closer to that point (or anytime before you make the plunge, for that matter), you might want to give us a call as there are a number of things to take into consideration when supercharging these F-150's, as well as program changes that will be needed in the Superchip. You'll want to get with us about that before you make your purchases along those lines, so we can help you prepare for that properly.

Good luck!
