Will exhaust mod affect superchip
I got my superchip in the mail today, Thanx Mike, I'm also going to be upgrading my exhaust also. My question: will the Cat Back dual rear outs affect the superchip program. I am really anxious to get the chip installed. Should I wait til the exhaust upgrade is installed before I install the chip?

Hi barry52,
You don't have to wait for anything except having premium gas in the tank to install your Superchip, so go right ahead and start enjoying it!
In these 1997 & newer F-150's, the Superchip program will not need to be changed for things like a drop-in low restriction air filter, an airbox elimination kit (Air Force One, FIPK's, etc.), cat-back exhaust systems, underdrive pulleys or converting to electric cooling fans. All of those changs will work just fine with the Superchip.
You'll only need to have custom programming/tuning done if you make changes like a different MAF (mass airflow meter), headers, superchargering, nitrous oxide, ported cylinder heads, gear ratio and/or tire size changes in 1999 & later F-150's, etc.
So you're fine to go right ahead with exhaust system changes, and if you would like any help or advice with that, feel free to give us a shout.
Have fun!

Mike, prior to installing the Superchip I had some new 265/75/16's installed, I believe that 245/70/16's were the stock tire for my 99 F250 LD. Should I have given you that info when I ordered my chip?
Hi Barry52,
It's not mandatory, as your vehicle will run OK without us correcting for that, but it's a very good idea to have us correct for that with some custom programming. We'll need to do some custom program changes to correct the speedometer, odometer and the shift points in the automatic models from changing the tire size.
We can still do that, and the custom programming fee to have that done isn't any more later on than it would have been at time of purchase, it's the same whether we do it immediately or later on.
It's not an absolute *must* that you have this done, but if you don't, your speedometer and odometer will not be correct, and in the automatics, the shift points can be off a bit. The bigger the size change, the more effect you get. If it's not a big size change, you can get away with it, but me personally, I like to have my speedo, odo & everything else dead-nuts on.
If you would like to have us correct this for you, just give us a shout when you get a chance & we can easily make those arrangements!

Mike, Thanx for the reply, since I put the superchip in I'm spoiled, would never want to go back to the stock program so I think I'll pass on the custom program unless you have any RENTAL chips?
Seriously, I think I'll just pass on the custom program...as long as there is no real impact to the performance. I have noticed a slight lag in the shift points but I figured that was normal. Oh well.

Hi Barry52,
I know how you feel, once you've had the Superchip in you never want to take it out again.
We don't have "rental" chips per se, but we can make sure you're without your Superchip for just long enough to send it back and forth. What we can do is go ahead and make the new program for you, then have you shoot your Superchip back to us and we'll only need it for 30 minutes or so to do what we need to do and shoot it right back out to you.
The shifts will feel better when the speedo is correct, that's a common symptom when taller tires are installed, a lagging shift.
It's up to you, of course, if you'd likw to have us do that so your shift points are correct and have the proper feel, just let us know.
And in the meantime, enjoy your Superchip!
