Question Reburn Superchip Cost

I'm trying to buy a Superchip off Ebay but want to know what it will cost. does it have to go back to Superchip Inc. or can some other company do it for less cost? If I buy one off Ebay for lets say $150 and it cost the same to get reprogramed. I might as well buy a new one. If any one knows anyting I would gratful. Thanks.........Scott

JDM charged me 75.00 for a reburn custom to my aplication. I havent tested it yet but if they have some of the fastest lightnings around, they got to know something!
www.teamjdm.com Mike T is also a very good choice! he was my first. either way you cant go wrong

Hi TopJake,

Welcome to F-150 Online!

Actually, though everyone is just trying to be very helpful, it is against the policies of F-150 Online to discuss pricing issues here on the boards, so as to keep them free of what is considered blatant commercial content. Your best bet is to give us a call or shoot us an email, and we can let you know what the actual cost is for what you need.

However, the important factor here is that unless the used Superchip *already* matches your vehicle's computer code, it will not be a bargain to buy it used like that due to the expense of having to reprogram it.

If you can find one that matches your vehicle's code, then it can be a good deal if you are willing to buy used and not have a warranty or Tech Support benefits, etc. Superchips don't fail very often, so if you find a Superchip that matches your code, *then* it can be a good deal for you, and we do encourage their use under those conditions.

But if the code doesn't already match in the used Superchip, by the time you buy the used Superchip and pay to have it reprogrammed, you could have had a brand new Superchip with a warranty and Tech Support benefits, etc. for the same or a few dollars more. Our advice is to pass and wait for a used chip that already matches your code, if you want to buy used.

If you have any questions on this or anything else performance-related, feel free to give us a shout, we're happy to help.

Good luck!

I thought it was against VENDORS to discuss pricing issues? anyways... the thread starter TopJake never mentioned anything about Mike or Performance Products in any way so really as long as you don't mention anything or quote anything you won't get in trouble right Mike?.

I paid:
100 for blue superchip off ebay
75 for reburn (custom for blower)
175 total?

For a new chip it was around 400 bucks(flip chip). I will probally end up buying one later, but for now Im on a budget so 175 was in my price range. Just hope I dont get a bad take of gas

TopJake If you have the cash I would go with Mike T, and go with a flip chip. Just my.02

Hi Talleywhacker,

Thanks for your response.

It certainly can be a bit confusing. My understanding of the issue of discussing specific pricing is not just a limitation of vendors quoting pricing, as it has been explained to me by the Webmaster it applies to all. The idea being they want to keep any discussion of pricing specifics in general off the boards so they don't get clogged with that kind of content, which happens very quickly once it starts. The last thing they want is to have these message boards turn into another E-bay, for lack of a better term. It's been a bit of a problem from time to time, though not since those policies were implemented some time ago.

There are further limitations that are specific to vendors as well, for example, they do not want us to handle issues such as order status, returns, Tech Support (though we do try to answer many questions, specific Tech Support issues are kept off the boards as well), etc. here on the message boards. That is perfectly understandable and as is should be, as those are matters that are of a nature that are between vendor & customer, and have nothing to do with F-150 Online, so F-150 Online bandwidth shouldn't be used for those purposes.

At least, that's how I understand it all. YMMV!

I noticed in your description of your future mods that you are going to add an intercooler to your vortec. Have you found one and if so where?

Thanks
