superchips 4 pound pulley

Mike I have just installed your 4lbs. blower pulley and you reburned my R9 chip. The pulley and chip was furnished to me from a friend here in houston. Before I installed the pulley I had 9 to 10 pound of boast by my autometer gauge reading. After installation I had only 11 to nearly 12lbs only. I was told that your pulley should give me at least 3lbs. more. My question is how much more boast should I have, are do we need to reburn the chip. If you like after you answer this I well tell you the whole story on all my modification. Should I call you and talk to you direct.

Hi alwhit27,

I do have 1 immediate suggestion for you to check, as this is usually the problem in these situations almost 100% of the time, as has been posted here on the message boards by many Lightning & other F-150 owners......................

Check the entire length of the vacuum line running to your boost gauge, from origination to gauge, every inch of it, check to make sure that it is not being crimped or collapsed anywhere. That is the problem virtually 100% of the time in these kinds of situations, it's just a simple matter of the vacuum line, or hose, being crimped, pinched or crushed/collapsed somewhere along it's length. The Autometer Phantom is a great boost gauge, they are usually pretty accurate, but you do need to check the vacuum line over it's entire length.

To answer your question regarding do you need to have custom programming done for the use of that 3-4 PSI pulley, YES, you do need to have that programmed for, and you also need a couple of other very inexpensive parts to support those higher boost levels, if you don't already have them. You need a breather cap in the passenger cam cover & a boost bypass kit to prevent boost dump during full-throttle upshifts in the Lightning, as well as new programming to keep that engine from going way too lean and hurting parts under the increased boost.

Whatever you do, do NOT try using the R9 program at heavy throttle with that pulley until we can get that program changed for you. Make sure you drive it very easy, keep your foot out of the throttle until we can get that program changed for you!

Yes, when you call us you can ask for me, as long as I'm available I'm more than happy to speak with you!

Check that vacuum line & good luck!
