Hey MikeF150,

Next time your down my way we can gun it together and see if you can keep up since I have the SuperChip in my KR too. I can tell mine is working from the difference in how the shifts feel even under normal driving. You could also take it above 100mph since the Superchip removes the top-end limiter too. Or you could wait for a sensable alternative from Mike.

I was concerned about this too when I first put my chip in..then a couple days later my truck stalled out and wouldn't start. I called Mike and he said to clean the connectors again. I did that tonight...just took it for a test drive and everything seems to beworking fine again. From what I understand, if your truck starts and is working then the chip is working. If the chip is in but it's not connected all the way iot probably won't start

Hi MikeF150,

If most or all of the conformal coating was still on the connector, it is possible to have the ECU not even recognize that the Superchip is there, we've seen that happen only a few times over the past 10-12 years. You'd have to have done very little (and/or very inadequate) cleaning of the connector to have that happen, and you would also have a significant amount of that conformal coating transfer over into the slot on the Superchip if you did that. It would be obvious when you pulled the Superchip out if that happened, you would see the coating transferred over into the slot and on the "fingers" (the contacts of the Superchip itself) inside the slot, as by the time it transfers over, it will have already turned the opaque to white-ish color, it would no longer be clear.

In general, as long as the vehicle starts with the Superchip installed, it's working.

Give us a call if you'd like to go over this in more detail!

"anywayto confirm Superchip is working?"

I have the answers...

Are you grinning when it shifts from 1st to second on mild accelleration?

Did you accidently get a wheel when you made a left at the stop sign?

Were you suprised when you looked at the speedometer and noticed the transmission successfully shifted into overdrive at 107 mph?

Were you thinking about getting higher speed rated tires as your next upgrade?

Are you still grinning when the truck is parked?

I know eventually I will get used to it and I'll be looking forward to the next performance upgrade but Whew! It is fun now!

Hi MikeF150,

You've hit the nail right on the head, and that happens to a number of people, I think, to most of us. We get used to the Superchip, it's very smooth, it just feels like there is about 10% more motor under the hood (in addition to the shift improvements & TS limiter being removed), and we just get used to it.

Anytime someone wonders if it's working or not, we tell them to take it out for a month, or at least 2-3 weeks, and drive the vehicle like you normally do. Then put it back in, and there won't be any question in your mind as to whether it's working. Usually when someone does this, they don't last more than a week before deciding to out it back in and never take it out again unless they have to.
