Mike, what will a L
Mike, what will a L
Mike, what type of setup do you have for the L. It's a stock L. Will thier be much HP or Torque increase. I know that ther will be better shifting, but didn't know what it would do to a stock L. And one more question, what about the flip chips, what types do you have for the L.
Thank's

Hi Phillip,
Actually, we have a fairly sizeable percentage of Lightning owners who do not do many modifications, in addition to those who are doing a lot of modifications & running in the 11's on the motor. There are a lot of what's called "Superchipped & filtered" Lightnings, meaning those running only the Superchip and a good intake kit to eliminate the restrictive factory airbox. A bone stock 1999 or newer Lightning that is in good basic health, with just those 2 modifications and running a set of slicks can get into the high 12's in the 1/4 mile.
For many Lightning owners, tha'ts plenty quick enough and they never go any further in their modifications.
The Superchip will add anywhere from about 40-46 horsepower at the flywheel, anywhere from about 30-37 at the real wheels. This depends a bit on what year the Lightning is, as the newer ones ('01 & '02) make a bit more power to begin with. Torque gains are very nice as well, adding 50 lbs/.ft. or more.
The 2-program Superchip Flip Chip is the way to go with any supercharged engine, as it allows full performance as well as better protection for the engine and the ability to do everything the Lightning was designed to be able to do from the factory. We have a couple of different Flip Chip setups for the stock to lightly modified Lightning. The most popular combination in the Flip Chip in the stock to lightly modified Lightnings is what we call the Towing & Performance combo, as these 2 programs allow you to do everything that Lightning was designed to be able to do from the factory but with more power, including still being able to tow 5000 lbs.
Or, we also have our "Drag Racer's Special," where the performance program is on one side, and on the other is a program for drag racing, that tunes the engine for the use of 100 octane racing gas for even more power. This setup has limited towing ability.
There is virtually no limit to the types of program combinations & setups we can provide for just about any type of modification, it's really a matter of what is appropriate for the modification level of each individual vehicle. In this case, your falls into the "stock to lightly modififed" group of Lightnings, so to speak.
We have those combinations readily available right here in our line ordering system, and you can access that just by clicking on the link just below, in our signature line.
You might also want to give us a call, just to go over this in a bit more detail, or if you'd like to talk about the modifications you're considereing, get advice on what modifications are the most cost-effective for your Lightning, etc., we're happy to help. We can provide bolt-on parts to take these Lightnings all the way down into the 11's without nitrous, or help you keep it just as close to stock as possible, whatever you prefer.
Have fun with that Lightning,
