hey hey hey
ok here it goes. i want a chip. i presently have a 99 v-6 auto. i plan to order the chip in about 2-3 weeks. here is the problem. i am going to order a 2002 v-6 with a 5- speed. are the chips going to be different? should i wait? if i buy now the fiance cannot complain i spend all my money on the truck. also will the new truck benefit in the 1/4 mile due to the chip. i was asking because i want to outrun my buddy with a 15.5 sec 1/4 grand am gt1 thanks
Hey!
I think your best bet would be to wait till you have the '02. You can use the same chip only if you have the exact same code. I don't think that is very likely. The chip is the same. The program is different. Programs are code specific.
Your new truck will benifit in the quarter with the chip. To beat a 15.5 I think a chip is only one of the things you will need.
Good luck!

Hi Richard,
Just in case you may not be aware of this, each Superchip is programmed for the exact software revision ("computer code," as we call it) in each individual vehicle's ECU (powertrain computer). That means the Superchip has to be programmed for each specific vehicle, you can't just take a Superchip for a '99 and put it on an '02, it would have to be reprogrammed for the '02, and that can certainly be done.
If you order a Superchip for your 1999 model, we can reprogram it to work on your new 2002 whenever you get the new truck for a small fee, so if you want to use the Superchip right away, you can certainly do that.
If you are going to be getting your 2002 in the next month or so, or even say, the next 6-8 weeks, then you might want to wait and just get your Superchip when you see what computer code your new 2002 has. That way you would avoid even the small fee for reprogramming the Superchip for your next vehicle.
However, if it's going to be longer before you get the 2002, then there's no reason why you can't start enjoying the Superchip right now on your current vehicle, and then just have us reprogram it to match the computer code of your new 2002 when you get it.
A Superchip for any 1997 thru 2001 F-150 can be reprogrammed for a 2002 F-150, so I'd say whether you order it now (meaning in 2-3 weeks like you mentioned) or just wait until you get your 2002 should be based on just how long it's going to be before you get your 2002.
If you'd like to go over any of this in more detail, get pricing for the reprogramming, or just ask questions, etc. please feel free to give us a call, our contact info is just below.

Hi Richard,
Yes, you are right, something virtually always comes up, that's just life with those of us who are not independantly wealthy!
Don't worry about it, there are more important things in life. You have a nice 1999 truck already, so it's not like you're having to drive a '74 Impala beater.
Take your time & take care of your prioprities, those new trucks & go-fast parts will always be available whenever your situation permits.
Good luck!
