Flip chip
Flip chip
Just ordered a flip chip for a V6 auto with a XAZ4 code.
Is this a good code to start with and does the chip work well with this code? I got the chip for the improved shifting not for the power. I know on the Powerstroke some codes are better than others to start with. Just wondered if it was the same for the gassers.
Thanks

Hi Scar
Seems to me if you ordered it from a dist. or mfg. they would have given you that info?
Sounds to me like you didnt order from Mike T. at PP.
Chip designed to work with the specific code of your vehicle PCM.
Good luck....OT

Yes I ordered it from Mike through the online system here.
I know the Superchip is code specific. On the powerstroke I know that some codes are better than others to start with and get better results with a chip than others. Just wondered if the gassers were the same way.
BTW although I think the Superchip does great things for gassers, their programs for the Powerstroke fell short in my other truck.
I will try to dyno this flip chip on the V6. Seems not many here use a dyno to measure performance gains (losses).

Your truck sounds wild.
Looks like you have been busy.
Do you have any numbers stock or chip only? I was not going to dyno this truck but seems like every time someone ask about numbers nobody has an answer. If you have some numbers I'll just use the money for propane fo the diesel.
I plan on keeping this truck bone stock execpt for the chip. I got this chip to help the trans. Fords trans. programing sucks. If the chip doesn't suit my shifting needs then I will do some valvebody mods.
The little V6 does fine for what I got it for. I will trade this truck when the F150 diesel comes out anyway. Just takeing along test drive.

Hi Scar,
Thanks for your post, you raise a point that I think bears some discussion with regard to the PSD.
First, no, there really is no basic inherent difference like that in these F-150 codes, they all respond pretty much the same. They are, of course, far different from the Powerstroke diesels.
The facts are, these Powerstroke diesels vary a bit from the factory, there are a few codes that are dogs, and as you correctly pointed out, they are dogs from the factory. The don't make their rated power, and they also gain about 20 HP less from the Superchips tuning than all the other codes, which gain 60 HP with our CARB-certified program. That is very easily rectified by having your dealership reflash your ECU to the latest revision under a complaint of low power, and having the Superchip reprogrammed to match. This is *not* a Superchip problem, this is a problem only with those particular codes, as those factory programs are simply poorly done and need to not be used. There are only a few "bad" codes out of the 600+ different Powerstroke diesel codes, and it's easily cured with a reflash to a newer factory code.
If you still have your Powerstroke diesel and that Superchip, if you would like to go over your code & what has been done, etc. we'll be happy to work with you to get you up to the power levels everyone else is enjoying with their Superchipped Powerstroke diesels.

This is my first chip for a electronic gasser, didn't know if there were good codes or bad codes.
I have a '97 stroke, TDE1. My "hotrod" chip is a TS Performance 4 bank chip. I have my injectors about maxed out now. When I change injectors maybe I will give you a call and see what we can do.
BTW you have the best price I have seen on the PSD programer. I have recommend you to many who are looking for one.

Hi Scar,
Ahh, I understand.
Yes, those early PSD's do tend to max out the injectors on the 1st-generation PSD's pretty quickly once you're up to significant power gains.
We'll be happy to pass along our discount on the Micro Tuners for the PSD's to anyone you refer to us, please just ask them to mention your F-150 Online screen name, "Scar," & we'll remember to take care of them if they call us by phone. Or, they can use our online ordering system here, that link is just below, and that will get them the same deal, thanks!
