superchip

So what happens when you run 87? Does it ping? Will it work? Nobody has said what will happen if you do not run premium.I would just like to know.
If I want to get the best MPG do I use the fip or just the superchip?
Thanks, White2001

Hi White2001,

With the standard single-program Superchip, you cannot use anything less than 91 or higher octane premium gas. What will happen if you do is, first, you will lose the power gain, and second, you could experience spark knock, detonation.

If you want a Superchip that you can use 87 octane on sometimes, then you need to go with the 2-program Superchip Flip Chip. It has a pair of programs one for 87 and the other for premium gas, and a toggle switch so you can switch back and forth between the 2 programs.

With regard to getting the best mileage, it doesn't matter whether you use the single program Superchip or the dual program Flip Chip. The potential for better mileage is only in the premium gas program, which you'll have with either type of Superchip. It's just a byproduct of the increased spoark advance used on part-throttle. There is basically no real potential for better mileage on 87 octane in the Flip Chip, only on the premum gas program, which you 'll have in either the Flip Chip, or in the standard single program Superchip.

They're both Superchips, the Flip Chip is simply the name of the Superchip that has 2 programs and the toggle switch.

I hope that helps!
