superchip

Do you have to use premium gas with the superchip?
If so how will it perform on the other gas?
Has anyone heard of the Deablo chip?
Thanks, Chris

Hi white01,

Yes, you have to use premium gas with the Superchip or with the Diablo chip, we carry both brands.

Only the Superchip is emissions certified in all 50 states, that is what most people here use, and what we use in our own vehicles here at Performance.

There is 1 option you might want to consider if being able ot run on 87 octane is important to you, and that is the 2-program Superchip Flip CHip. This chip has 2 different programs and a 2-position toggle switch so you can select which program you;re running on.

It has a program that is optimized for use on 87 octane, and of course the power gain is small, but you also have all the other improvements to automatic transmission shifting, top speed limiter removed, delays & retards removed, etc. so the vehicle is more responsive & accelerates a bit quicker. Then when you want maximum power, just fill it up with premium and flip the switch over to the full performance program!

That is an elegant solution for those who want to have the best of both worlds, available at the flip of the switch.

Just to give you an idea of what it really costs to run the Superchip on premium gas all the time, for those who use the standard single program Superchip, they only spend about $100 more for gas for each 10,000 miles driven. So for most people, that's about $2-$4 per week more for gas to use the Superchip on premium gas all the time.

If you'd like to go over this in more detail, ask other questions, etc., please feel free to give us a call, we'll be happy to go over all of that with you.

You can place your order for either the Superchip or the Diablo chip either by calling us, or by clicking on the link just below in our signature line, that will take you right to it.

Superchip or the Diablo chip?

What is the difference between the Superchip or the Diablo chip? Perhaps you can direct me to a site that already has this info...my F150 is the first and only computer base truck I have ever had...only chips I ever had in my truck was the ones that had ridges

Hi Boaz32,

We carry both the Superchips line and the Diablo line as well.

The results with either one on these F-150's is pretty similar, they both tune each vehicle according to it's computer code and both add power all the time, at any throttle position. However, our customers who have used both have told us they feel the Superchip pulls a bit harder, and has better automatic transmission shift characteristics. In our own testing, we felt the same using both in our vehicles here at Performance.

The Superchip is also 50-state emissions certified, where the Diablo is not, and that can be an important consideration.

If you'd like to go over this in detail, we'd be happy to cover this with you at length & answer any questions you might have, just give us a call at our number below when you get a chance.

Hi Boaz32,

You're very welcome, anytime!

Hi White2001,

My apologies, but because of F-150 Online's policies, we cannot discuss pricing here on these message boards.

However, that information is easy to access, if you will just click on the link below in our signature line, that will take you to our F-150 Online Superchips ordering system, and there you can see those figures right away.

We look forward to speaking with both of you!

superchip

So what happens when you run 87? Will it ping? Will it work? What chip will give me the most MPG? Filp? Superchip?
I would just like to know.
Thanks, White 2001

Hi white2001,

Take a look in your other thread, the new thread you posted where you posted that same question, and you'll see I have given you the answers already there.

Briefly, you lose the power gain, and you run the risk of getting detonation, or as you say, it will ping. You cannot use 87 octane with the standard single program Superchip, you can use 87 octane only in the 2-program Superchip Flip Chip, as it has a program specifically tuned for 87 octane.

Hey this is really great info Superchips_Distributor, ok I went to your site I have a question are those prices in American dollors or Canadain??

Question:
Say I buy a Flip Chip does that allow me to use it in a Ranger and a F-150? Reason I ask is my Ranger4.0L is on a 3 year lease and once that is up I will be in a f-150 5.4L. I ask this because the amount shown is quite high but respectable.

Let me know.

Thanks!!

Hi 02Ranger,

As you can see there in our online ordering system, the prices are in American dollars of course. If you have ever purchased performance parts for computer controlled vehicles before, you will quickly see that represents an excellent bargain.

The same Superchip module can be reprogrammed for current F-150's and most other Ford vehicles as well.

Does the superchip void your warranty? I have heard people say they take it out if they take it to the dealer for service. If it doesnt, why would they do this???

Thanks
Jeff

Hi Jeff,

That is recommended whether you are under warranty or not, and it has nothing to do with warranty. Anytime a vehicle is in the shop, it may need to be scanned for diagnostic error codes, and you always want the ECU in stock trim to do that.

No, the Superchip does not void the new vehicle warranty, that is highly *illegal*. The only way a warranty *claim* can be legally denied over the use of an aftermarket part is if the automaker can prove that the aftermarket part was the sole cause of damage to the vehicle, and that had the aftermarket part not been installed, the failure would not have occurred. That is very strong legal protection, and it is up to each individual vehicle owner to know their rights under the law and enforce them, so I'm glad you asked.

In fact, there is a good quote in this month's Ford SVT Enthusiast magazine, published by Ford Motor Company themselves, in which Ford SVT's Powerstrain Systems Supervisor Bill Lane states "Keep in mind that without establishing a connection between your modifications and actual *damage*, it's illegal for the dealer or manufacturer to void anything."

If you'd like to go over this, or anything else in detail, such as how to safely improve your vehicle's performance without voiding your warranty, etc., please feel free to give us a call.

Great, thank you for the information. One other question how long does it usually take to get a chip from you after ordering?

Thank you,
Jeff
